Summary This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent serves as the subject matter expert for the Division and provides oversight of technical and cybersecurity requirements and management of J-8 Warfighting and Analysis Division (WAD) integrated computing environment. . Responsibilities As a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN) at the GS-2210-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Designing, building, testing, integration, operation, maintenance, and refreshing of J-8 WAD's mission system, the Joint Staff Analytic Suite (JSAS). Tracks and fulfills administrative requirements (standard operating procedures, etc.),and coordinates the software and hardware purchasing plan: research, recommendation, and procurement actions that pertain to both immediate-action repair/maintenance and future network and data architecture modernization. Provides cybersecurity for all other J-8 operated mission/information systems to include WAD's JSAS, Forces Division's Automated Forces For (AFF) and Joint Capabilities Division's Knowledge Management /Decision Support (KM/DS). Serves as a J-8 Directorate Technical Validator; reviews, or has awareness of, all J-8 above standard software and IT hardware technical requirements and requests. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Applying systems administration and systems engineering theories, concepts, and methods to design, recommend, procure, test, integrate, operate, manage and maintain hardware/software replacement or upgrade to meet current and future requirements; Understanding IT principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices to design, build, operate, maintain, adapt, support, and recapitalize Directorate IT infrastructure to support large-scale modeling and simulation across multiple controlled areas; Preparing IT principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices to design, build, operate, maintain, adapt, support, and recapitalize Directorate IT infrastructure; Recognizing modeling and simulation workflow including post-processing of large-scale data. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 2210 series. :Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
