Responsibilities What We’re Looking For: If you have experience building and supporting cloud-native distributed systems and enjoy working in a collaborative DevOps environment, you’ll be excited about the Software Development Engineer III position supporting the Iridium Distribution Center (IDC) subsystem. IDC is an AWS-based message broker for the Iridium Message Transport Service, part of the Certus transport services suite. As a Software Development Engineer III, you will contribute to designing, deploying, and maintaining highly available, secure, and scalable messaging infrastructure. You will succeed in this role if you can apply best practices in DevOps and GitOps, implement modern CI/CD pipelines, and develop infrastructure-as-code solutions. What You’ll Do: Contribute to the development and operations support of the IDC subsystem in a DevOps-focused team environment Participate in architectural decisions and design direction for distributed, concurrent systems in a telecom environment Apply best practices in GitOps, DevOps, and DevSecOps, including CI/CD automation and security compliance Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to deliver robust solutions Ensure high availability and scalability of IDC services through container orchestration and cloud-native design Oversee infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform Maintain code quality and operational excellence through rigorous testing, monitoring, and observability practices Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies for system reliability and security Foster a collaborative, innovative team culture and encourage continuous learning Qualifications What You’ll Need to Succeed: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer system engineering, or related engineering field 5+ years of relevant experience in software development or DevOps environments Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate on a technical and non-technical level with peers both inside and outside of the team Strong background in Linux (RHEL, Debian) environments. Proficiency in coding languages like Golang and Python (including asyncio and pytest). Hands‑on experience with AWS services and cloud‑native architectures. Expertise in networking protocols (TCP, UDP) and messaging systems (SQS, RabbitMQ, AMQP). Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra/Keyspaces). Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes (EKS), including Helm and Helmfile. Experience with Git, GitLab, and CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform or similar). Strong understanding of concurrent systems and telecom environments. Good leadership skills, with the ability to guide and mentor team members. ThingsThatWould beGreatif You Brought to the Table: A strong background in DevSecOps practices and security automation. Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack). Practical experience of networking protocols, routers, switches, etc. We’ll also need you to: Be on call to support operational issues Be able to work a hybrid schedule of at least 60% (3 days per week) of the time in office Travel occasionally and work onsite to foster collaboration Be a US Citizen #J-18808-Ljbffr
