Plumber As infrastructure critical to the region's growth and prosperity, BNA is a vital asset for Middle Tennessee and serves as a gateway to Music City and beyond. According to a recent State of Tennessee study, in 2019 alone, BNA generated more than $9.9 billion in total economic impact. BNA supported more than 76,000 jobs in the region and produced more than $443 million in state, local and federal taxes. BNA receives no local tax dollars. The plumber is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining plumbing, irrigation systems, water and gas piping, fire suppression systems, mechanical systems, wastewater treatment systems, and motorized drive assemblies. Other responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance inspections on mechanical equipment to be in compliance with service, warranty, and maintenance standards and assists contractors in major emergency utility repair and performs other work as directed. Essential responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment in compliance with service, warranty, and maintenance standards, inspecting new plumbing installations including water systems, water heaters, circulating pumps, and electrical heating units, planning, coordinating, and installing plumbing and piping projects with little supervision, performing daily repairs of plumbing and piping systems, such as drainage waste and vents, non-potable water systems, and underground utilities, reading blueprints to determine proper operations of system and provide feedback during design and construction phase, practicing safety rules related to plumbing, unclogging and cleaning sanitary and storm drains; unclogging and cleaning basin traps and water closets, servicing and repairing circulating pumps and tricherators; sewage and storm water lift stations, adjusting, repairing/replacing flushometer, vacuum breakers, leaking pipes, clean and repair sump pumps, repairing and replacing faucets, valves, check valves, etc., inspecting and assisting with maintenance and testing of fire protection systems, completing emergency shutoff of campus irrigation systems, assisting in the cleaning of drain systems and sewer channels, operating sewer vac and jetter, performing soldering, brazing and welding, replacing and repairing paper towel dispensers, toilet paper dispensers, soap dispensing systems, performing maintenance on oil water separators, testing and repairing backflow preventors, assisting others with dispatch activities on third shift, including monitoring dispatch phone, signing out keys, and processing forms needed by contractors, establishing working relationships and rapport with customers and team members, maintaining regular and on-time attendance, following all safety regulations, supporting MNAA's commitment to its culture and values, including Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence (RISE), and performing other duties as assigned. Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics include plumbing: knowledge of procedures and equipment of plumbing, to include calculating volumes, areas, and flow rates to properly size water and drainage pipes, lock out-tag out procedures: knowledge of lock out-tag out procedures for safeguarding employees from hazards, electrical facilities and equipment: knowledge of local, state, and federal codes pertaining to electrical or airfield facilities and equipment, mechanical systems: knowledge of techniques and safety practices used in the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems, fire safety equipment: knowledge of fire safety equipment, including the installation, maintenance, and testing of alarms and sprinklers, mathematics: knowledge of standard calculations and mathematics, scheduling: knowledge of developing and monitoring monthly work schedules, welding trade: knowledge of the methods, materials, and terminology used in brazing and soldering, communication: skill in communicating effectively at all levels of the organization and with stakeholders, both orally and in writing, equipment maintenance: skill in identifying the need for and performing routine maintenance on equipment, hand tools: skill in using hand tools and equipment such as electric drills, saws, and jack hammers, relationship building: skill in establishing and maintaining effective and professional working relationships with others, leadership: skill in leading, taking charge, and offering opinions and direction, problem solving: skill in identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions, blueprint reading: skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and other technical drawings such as schematics, ladder diagrams, and sketches, written expression: ability to use words and sentences in writing so others will understand, dependability: acts reliably and responsibly with others, collaborates: building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives, written comprehension: ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing, professionalism: demonstrates professional behavior and appearance in all situations, receiving direction: skill in receiving and following written and oral direction, driving: skill in operating a motor vehicle, safety and security: knowledge of equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safety and security, innovation: shows creativity and alternative thinking to develop new ideas and solutions for work related problems, computer use: skill in using Microsoft Windows operating system, and ability to obtain and maintain a Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge. Qualifications: Required: high school diploma or equivalent, journeyman plumbing certification, plumbing certification or military comparable or similar training, 2-4 years of related experience. Preferred: shift: 11 pm - 7:30 am, Tuesday thru Saturday.
