Job Title: TAP Lawn-care Crew Member / Crew LeaderDepartment: Thornton Township T.A.P. Program Reports To: T.A.P. Program Supervisor / Site Manager Employment Type: SeasonalPosition Overview:The TAP Lawn-care Crew Member / Crew Leader plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the appearance of residential and community properties throughout Thornton Township. This position requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to perform landscaping tasks safely and efficiently. Team members are responsible for completing lawn maintenance services, operating landscaping equipment, and supporting overall program operations. The Township provides training and equipment to support skill development in lawn care techniques, safety practices, teamwork, time management, and customer service.Key Responsibilities:Perform landscaping tasks including mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, raking, leaf removal, and debris cleanup.Maintain the appearance of lawns and outdoor spaces with consistency and attention to detail. Safely operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers. Ensure all equipment is cleaned, properly stored, and serviced after use.Follow all safety protocols and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE). Interact professionally with residents and respond to questions and service requests courteously.Maintain accurate records of services performed, materials used, and hours worked. Report equipment issues, site concerns, or customer feedback to supervisors.Work collaboratively with team members and assist with daily work assignments. Assist with transporting equipment and preparing job sites for daily operations.(Crew Lead) Drive Township vehicles to transport crew members and equipment to assigned job sites.(Crew Lead) Ensure safe transportation practices and compliance with all traffic laws and Township policies.Compensation:Crew Member: $15.00 per hour Crew Leader: $17.00 per hourFinal role placement will be determined following the interview and selection process.Qualifications & Skills:Must be between the ages of 16 and 24.Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Strong communication and customer service skills.Ability to operate landscaping equipment safely and responsibly.Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various outdoor weather conditions. Ability to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.Prior landscaping or grounds maintenance experience preferred, but not required.
