Description The T&D Operations Manager is responsible for the operational and managerial direction and leadership of the Charlotte office Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Global Practice engineering teams, working directly with the T&D Southeast Region Global Practice Manager. Responsibilities include supporting and executing a business strategy, developing high-performing teams, and promoting the Burns & McDonnell culture, values and mission. The T&D Operations Manager will support business and design department growth in a dynamic and profitable manner based on Burns & McDonnell's core values of safety, client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, and overall outstanding service. Responsibilities include: + Advocate for and lead the Living Safer and other Safety objectives in the engineering operations team and be accountable for timely completion of all safety training and other safety required tasks. + Provide leadership to the engineering, project managers and business line managers; direct and coordinate activities of several engineering and design disciplines and be a servant leader, willing to support all those in their sphere of influence. + Advocate, implement and lead all quality initiatives and ensure the highest level of quality in all engineering operations, deliverables and work products. + Assist in the development of and execution of SER T&D strategies, initiatives and goals. + Provide administrative, supervisory, and technical direction for T&D personnel in Charlotte. + Drive business growth in SER T&D's EPC business and develop EPC-ready engineering and design teams. + Lead, manage, and develop department and section managers, project managers, and account managers. + Advocate, lead, and be accountable for recruiting, hiring, developing and retaining outstanding employee-owners and contract staff in the engineering and design disciplines. + Conduct 90-day and annual performance appraisals, coaching sessions, career coaching and leadership development. + Identify, lead and support training programs, including sponsoring the successful implementation and improvement of the mentorship program. + Develop and implement marketing, estimating, pricing, sales and customer retention strategies; initiate, assist, or lead proposal development and contract negotiations. + Provide assistancetotheappropriate personnelon the development, administration, and execution of theSERT&D Business Plan. + Review resource requirements with department and section managers and be accountable for creating job postings/requisitions for the engineering and design position. + Ensure the adequate levels of engineering operations staff to support the T&D SER business and ensure the staff is distributed effectively. + Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving challenges with the operations staff. + Advance and develop tools and workflows, utilizing innovation and AI, to increase the efficiency of designs, specification development and project execution. + Exhibit a commitment to building a diverse and equitable future for all. Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program and 10 years related professional experience in T&D projects such as transmission and substation engineering design is required. Minimum of two (2) years of managerial experience is strongly preferred. + Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change. + Candidates must possess strong design skills and a strategic perspective. + Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients. + Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred.
