MANAGER, TRANSPORTATION

General Description of PositionTo coordinate the daily transportation of used goods, new goods, salvage, and trash. Coordinate the storage of donations when necessary. Supervises transportation drivers and helpers. Uphold a positive work environment that follows Goodwill's Amazing Customer Experience ACE culture, Values, and Mission in everything you do and every interaction you have with co-workers, clients, customers, and management.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesHires, trains, and supervises staff, giving oral and written communication regarding work performance as necessary. Recruits, interviews, checks references, and conducts workplace orientations for new hires as needed. Schedules employees with a focus on controlling payroll costs and adequate coverage of transportation. Initiates and completes personnel and payroll records promptly, as well as other paperwork required in the day-to-day operations of transportation. Keep employees' daily attendance records and approve time off requests per business needs. This duty is performed daily.Maintains all transportation logs and documentation. This duty is performed daily.Coordinates the daily scheduling and routing of trucks. This duty is performed daily.Ensures the daily inspection and maintenance of trucks by drivers. Ensure that trucks/trailers are safe and maintained within DOT compliance standards. This duty is performed daily.Ensure that drivers and helpers project a positive company image through pleasant customer service and proper, clean appearance. Accompanies and grades truck driver applicants in test drives and trains new drivers. This duty is performed daily.Coordinates the daily collection and transportation of salvage, supplies, and waste materials from stores and the GRC. Coordinates the transportation of donated items to the designated destination. This duty is performed daily.Compiles the destination report for Donated Goods administration. This duty is performed weekly.Coordinate with employees to keep the dock and freight area hazard-free. This duty is performed daily.Drive a truck safely and efficiently, complying with all state, federal, and local driving laws. This duty is performed daily.Oversees the Supply Coordinator to ensure proper distribution and tracking of supplies.Responsible for maintaining the scheduling and maintenance of pool vehicles.Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.Qualifications - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.Education and Experience - High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on-the-job education in a specific skill area, e.g., data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc., plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, and 2 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Responsibility for the work of others - Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Supervises a moderate-sized group (8-15) of employees, but possibly smaller if difficult, semi-technical work, requiring considerable direction and assistance, is involved. Plans, directs, and coordinates work, makes decisions, and performs personally the more difficult aspects of the same broad assignment.WORKING CONDITIONS - Outside the working environment, wherein there are disagreeable working conditions part of the time
