Strategic Fleet ManagerDepartment: Corporate/AdministrativeEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: Orlando, FL DescriptionThe Strategic Fleet Manager is responsible for the strategic management, operational performance, and compliance of the organization's fleet assets supporting engineering, surveying and construction services projects. This role ensures reliable, safe, and cost-effective deployment of vehicles and specialized equipment used in field operations. Working closely with leadership, human resources, safety, and third-party vendors, the Manager drives fleet standardization, regulatory compliance (DOT/OSHA), and asset optimization across multiple offices and project sites.Your Primary Responsibilities will includeFleet Strategy & Program ManagementServe as the primary point of contact for all fleet-related matters, including driver communications, stakeholder updates, and leadership reporting.Partner with Regional Leadership, Trilon Fleet Leadership,and Third-Party Fleet Management Company (FMC) for strategic program support and execution.Lead the transition and integration of new acquisitions into the Third-Party Fleet Management Company.Manage strategic rollout of supplementary programs, preferred vendor solutions, and vehicle upfitting initiatives.Fleet Operations & AdministrationOversee and monitor third party fleet management team for processing of vehicle registration, licensing, and insurance documentation across all company-leased vehicles.Ensure all documentation (e.g., insurance, maintenance logs, registrations, MVRs, driver details) is current and accurately uploaded to the fleet management system.Manage the database of all company-owned and leased assets, including specialty vehicles, heavy equipment, and technology-enabled platforms such as LiDAR and survey equipment. Utilization, Cost Management & OptimizationConduct regular analysis of vehicle utilization and identify opportunities for optimization, including transitions from mileage reimbursement to company vehicles.Standardize upfitting packages and analyze cost savings associated with consolidated solutions.Collaborate with Procurement and Finance to manage the fuel program and associated rebate opportunities.Safety, Compliance & RiskPartner with EHS (Environmental Health & Safety), and Human Resources teams to implement and communicate vehicle safety policies, driver safety metrics, accident prevention strategies, and incident reporting procedures.Monitor safety and compliance communications across fleet personnel and maintain alignment with industry standards.Telematics & Data ManagementManage and monitor telematics program adoption; generate reports and insights based on usage and KPIs.Maintain a centralized fleet and equipment database with real-time visibility and reporting capabilities.Performance Monitoring & Continuous ImprovementMonitor agreed-upon KPIs for fleet and safety operations, including FMC performance metrics.Participate in regular Fleet Leadership calls to provide company updates, review industry trends, and align on continuous improvement goals.Facilitate internal fleet team meetings to drive knowledge sharing, promote best practices, and ensure alignment with corporate goals.What you'll needQualificationsBachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of experience in fleet management, construction equipment management, or transportation operations within AEC, DOT, or related industries. Knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and fleet compliance requirements. Experience coordinating with third-party fleet management providers and vendors. Strong project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Proficiency in fleet management systems, telematics platforms, and data analysis tools. Demonstrated ability to manage costs, improve processes, and support field operations.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting transportation engineering, survey or construction services teams. Familiarity with environmental and safety compliance (DOT, OSHA, etc.).Familiarity with survey and geospatial equipment (e.g., LiDAR, GPS, total stations). Experience managing multi-state or multi-office fleet operations. Knowledge of asset management practices for infrastructure or public-sector projects. Working ConditionsFrequent coordination with field personnel and project sites. Occasional travel to project locations, regional offices, and vendor facilities.
