High Volume Customer Service Environment Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused professional to support the processing of oversized and/or overweight (OS/OW) vehicle permits. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with federal and state transportation regulations while promoting the safe and efficient movement of vehicles on public roadways. The ideal candidate will be analytical, highly organized, and comfortable handling a high volume of customer interactions via phone and in person. This position requires strong regulatory knowledge, route analysis capabilities, and the ability to make sound decisions that directly impact public safety and infrastructure protection. Key Responsibilities Analyze and process routine oversized/overweight permit applications in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. Manage a high volume of inbound calls while providing professional, knowledgeable customer service. Review and process company agreement applications to ensure regulatory compliance and good standing. Analyze and process special weight registration requests. Update routing data daily to reflect current road restrictions, detours, and closures. Communicate with carriers via phone, email, written correspondence, and in person to authorize permits, provide regulatory guidance, and resolve issues. Provide customer assistance through multiple communication channels including telephone, email, mail, fax, and in person. Coordinate enforcement and compliance efforts with law enforcement and regulatory partners. Collaborate with engineering and district personnel to coordinate superload routes and verify roadway restrictions. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Two (2) years of post-secondary education in business, communications, or a related field may substitute for work experience. Relevant experience in regulatory compliance, transportation permitting, logistics coordination, or program administration preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Required Knowledge & Skills Advanced understanding of wheel and axle weight configurations in accordance with federal bridge standards. Strong knowledge of permit classifications, vehicle configurations, and associated regulatory requirements. Working knowledge of applicable state transportation codes and Federal Motor Carrier Regulations. Ability to analyze routes using roadway, bridge, and width maps. Strong technical comprehension skills with the ability to explain complex regulations in clear, everyday terms. High-level customer service skills in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with call distribution systems and standard office technology. Understanding of ethics and confidentiality requirements.
