Overview The Carrier Sourcing Representative is responsible for sourcing, onboarding, and introducing new carrier relationships for NFI's Brokerage Division. The focus of this position is to build relationships with new carriers to NFI that fit the ideal carrier profile. This role reports to the Capacity Manager in Chicago. Responsibilities * Identify, qualify, and onboard new carriers that align with NFI's carrier standards and ideal profile. * Develop deep knowledge of each partner's fleet (vans, reefers, flatbeds), preferred regions, and network strengths to maximize utilization. * Align carrier capacity with customer freight demand and lane density. * Maintain a forward‑looking pipeline of targeted carriers to support NFI's long‑term growth strategy and evolving customer needs. * Work closely with Carrier Development Specialists to integrate new partners into the NFI network and build predictable, reliable capacity across key lanes. * Introduce carriers to strategically engage with incoming RFP's, contractual, and transactional business sourced via NFI Brokerage. * Constantly review new and ongoing freight opportunities to source new carriers when appropriate to meet and exceed customer expectations. * Work with the Carrier Development Specialist team to engage and introduce to the NFI Network to create predictable and reliable capacity. * Identify key deadhead lanes for potential partner carriers and work with the customer sales and account management teams to target customers that might help fill those lanes for competitive rates * Support bid responses, pricing strategies, and carrier sourcing initiatives for new business opportunities. * Meet with carriers to focus on continuing needs as well as to better understand the synergy with NFI Brokerage. Qualifications * BA or BS Degree preferred * 2 - 5 years Brokerage experience preferred, working with domestic truckload providers. * Self-motivated and customer service orientation * Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills * Ability to work in fast paced environment that involves learning and using multiple applications and handling a high volume of phone calls * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Knowledge of TMS programs used for brokerage services * Market knowledge of truckload lanes, rates, and market fluctuations. * Individual commitment towards sharpening existing or acquiring new skills as required by the demands of the business or customers. We are excited to share the base hourly rate for this position is $28.85-31.25. NFI takes into consideration applicants' qualifications, experience, education, geographic location, when determining a starting rate of pay.
