FIRE DEPARTMENT This position provides logistical support and coordinates all aspects of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniforms for recruit firefighters, active firefighters, and fire officers. This position requires basic entry level knowledge and experience in inventory management, asset allocation and management, fleet operations, materials handling, project assignments and other administrative duties. This position requires considerable independent judgment, leadership and self-initiative. This position reports to the Administrative Services Manager. Assists with budget preparation as needed, the purchasing of firefighting tools and equipment and facility-related equipment; inventory control and bookkeeping.  Delivers supplies and equipment to fire stations or facilities as assigned.  Ensures inventory of supplies is sufficient. Maintains materials, equipment, parts and other supplies in departmental supply room or assigned areas. Keeps storage areas organized and clean. Utilizes hand trucks and/or carts in the storage and delivery of equipment, supplies and materials to designated locations. Inspects items or supplies received against delivery tickets; checks that purchase orders are in conformance with request. Investigate discrepancies or adjusts errors. Prepares and maintains a comprehensive computer-based inventory system of materials and equipment utilizing spreadsheets, as well as entering data for all issued property to department employees. Ensures preventive maintenance testing schedule is adhered to for equipment and vehicles. Manages and maintains all communication equipment including but not limited to portable/mobile radios, mobile data terminals and cell phones. Manages and maintains bunker gear and uniforms.  Stays abreast of laws, ordinances, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position including pertinent National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and OSHA standards. Thorough knowledge of NFPA 1851 Standard on Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Protective Ensembles for Structural Firefighting and other NFPA Standards pertaining to PPE including NFPA 1951, 1971, 1977, and 1999.  ADDITIONAL POSITION FUNCTIONS      Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate          assignment to the position. High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) years of experience in the Fire Service as a paid professional in inventory, business, warehousing and/or procurement; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a current and valid Florida Driver's License. Employee shall obtain the National Incident Management System ICS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System and IS-700 National Incident Management System, An Introduction within six (6) months of employment. The following courses are designed to provide a baseline, as they introduce basic NIMS and ICS concepts and provide the foundation for higher-level Emergency Operations Center- (EOC), MACS, and ICS related training. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate's Degree in Logistical Support, Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services and/or other related field. Thorough knowledge of inventory, procurement, and supply management techniques. Skill in performing complex mathematical computations and tabulations accurately and efficiently; business mathematics, including accounting, purchasing and finance functions. Thorough knowledge of pre-established local, State, and Federal policies, procedures and regulatory requirements applicable to the work. Ability to utilize personal computers, standard office equipment and standard software applications, e.g., word processors, database software, spreadsheet applications. Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, employees, division and department heads, public/private sector contacts. Ability to organize work, prioritize, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimum direction. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, or schedule form. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
