Job Description

Ameron is a leader in the manufacture of poles for street lighting and traffic control. Our extensive line of Ameron brand products can be used in residential areas and commercial developments, including streets, highways, shopping centers and pedestrian pathways. From industrial to DOT to municipal, we have just the right pole. We are searching for a Transportation Supervisor that is accountable for safe, compliant, and efficient transportation, logistics, and supporting operational execution for a high‑volume manufacturing environment. The role integrates fleet leadership, regulatory compliance, and end‑to‑end supply‑chain execution, ensuring products move seamlessly from production through customer delivery while supporting system accuracy, inventory coordination, and labor controls. What You'll Do: 1. Delivery Planning & Execution * Plan and dispatch daily deliveries to meet customer commitments and optimize efficiency * Align production completion, staging, and shipment schedules * Oversee load building, takeoff, and shipment flow 2. Fleet & Carrier Management * Manage internal fleet and contract carriers to meet service and cost targets * Ensure fleet readiness (maintenance, inspections, certifications) * Support carrier selection and fleet investment decisions 3. Safety & Regulatory Compliance * Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and company safety standards * Maintain driver qualification files, MVRs, drug testing, and hours-of-service * Conduct safety briefings, audits, and corrective actions 4. Shipping Execution & Systems * Ensure accurate shipping documentation (BOLs, permits, maps) * Execute and oversee Oracle transactions (work orders, ship confirm, order updates) * Maintain accurate system data for inventory, labor, and shipment visibility 5. Customer & Field Coordination * Serve as primary transportation contact for customers and internal teams * Coordinate delivery timing and resolve field issues * Represent the company on customer job sites as needed 6. Performance & Continuous Improvement * Track and report KPIs (on-time delivery, safety, uptime, cost) * Identify and drive improvements in cost, efficiency, and service * Provide recommendations on staffing, equipment, and processes 7. Leadership & Administration * Lead and supervise CDL drivers and crane operators * Manage timecards and transportation-related labor tracking * Partner with plant leadership to align priorities What You'll Need: * Minimum of 5+ years of experience in transportation management, logistics, fleet operations, or manufacturing operations * Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, OSHA standards, and load securement * Strong scheduling, organizational, and problem-solving skills * Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/transportation systems (Oracle preferred) * On-call availability to support delivery operations as needed Preferred: * Experience leading drivers or field-based teams * Experience in construction, utilities, or heavy manufacturing environments * Manufacturing and yard environment * Regular interaction with drivers and job sites Salary Range: $71,020 - $98,020 USD
