As a Station Agent, you will perform a cross-functional role, combining the duties of a Customer Service Agent and a Ramp Agent to ensure safe and efficient station operations. You will be the first point of contact for passengers, playing a vital role in creating a positive airport experience. Simultaneously, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of customer baggage, operating ground service equipment, and coordinating the servicing of aircraft.This position requires a professional demeanor, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with strict time constraints. You must be comfortable interacting with customers, proficient in using computers, and capable of working outdoors in various weather and noise conditions. The role demands flexibility to work with multiple carriers and fulfill various duties as assigned.Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service OperationsGreet and assist customers promptly, courteously, and professionally both in person and over the phoneUtilize airline computer systems to provide accurate flight information, process ticketing and boarding documents, record lost or damaged baggage, and manage cargo trackingAccurately process credit card and personal check transactions, ensuring all collections are properly accounted forAnnounce incoming and outbound flights clearly and accuratelyOperate jetways to ensure they are in the proper position prior to aircraft arrival, and assist with the safe opening, closing, and securing of aircraft doorsEscort unaccompanied minors and disabled passengers throughout the airport as needed, ensuring their safety and comfortRamp & Ground OperationsSafely lift, load, unload, and transport baggage, mail, and cargo from the aircraft to the airportOperate ground equipment such as tugs, cargo carts, service trucks, and belt loadersGuide aircraft to and from gate positions to maintain on-time connectionsProtect baggage and other equipment from damage, loss, and adverse weather conditionsPrepare the cabin for customer boarding, including cleaning seats, seat pockets, floors, galleys, and lavatoriesEnsure ground equipment is available in the ramp area and bag room for upcoming flightsGeneral DutiesWork independently, manage tasks without direct supervision, and consistently meet service standardsAdhere to safety guidelines and maintain safe working conditions for yourself and othersCommunicate effectively with managers and lead agents to manage daily schedulesDisplay a professional and positive image, adhering to company grooming and uniform standards at all timesRequirementsMust be at least 18 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED) requiredMust possess a valid driver's license with a good driving recordAbility to stand for extended periods (up to 4 hours at a time)Ability to lift and move items weighing between 50-70 lbs occasionallyAbility to accept and process checked baggage weighing up to 100 lbsAbility to work in extreme conditions (hot and cold weather) and small spacesMust be able to read, speak, and understand the English language fluentlyBasic computer proficiency for record-keeping, baggage routing, and processing transactionsMust be flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needsMust pass an extensive post-offer, pre-employment background check, including fingerprinting and a criminal history record check as mandated by federal lawMust successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug testEqual Opportunity Employer StatementGAT Airline Ground Support is an equal opportunity employer that makes hiring decisions based on business needs and the best-qualified candidates available.
