The team is building out high-performance test infrastructure to support rapid development and validation of propulsion hardware across component, subsystem, and full system levels. As Director of Propulsion Test Operations, you will own all aspects of propulsion testing, including facility operations, test execution, safety, and team leadership. This role is responsible for scaling test capabilities, ensuring high-quality data output, and enabling fast, reliable iteration as systems move from development into flight-ready hardware.About UsWe are a growing space technology company focused on propulsion systems for spacecraft and in-space maneuvering. The team operates with a strong emphasis on hands-on development, integrated testing, and execution speed.Job DutiesLead all propulsion test operations across component, subsystem, and full system testingOwn planning and execution of test campaigns, ensuring alignment with technical and program objectivesOversee test readiness reviews, hazard analyses, and post-test data evaluationsManage configuration control for test hardware, instrumentation, and facility systemsDirect operations of propulsion test facilities including propellant handling systems, control rooms, and ground support equipmentPlan and execute facility upgrades, maintenance, and expansion to meet evolving test needsBuild, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and operatorsEstablish training programs for safe handling of hazardous systems and test execution proceduresDevelop and maintain test documentation including procedures, safety protocols, and reporting standardsPartner with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams to align test execution with development timelinesSupport business development efforts through test planning, cost inputs, and technical proposalsOversee data acquisition, processing, and reporting to internal and external stakeholdersIdentify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies and contingency plansQualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field5+ years of experience leading propulsion or hardware test operations teamsExperience developing and executing test plans, procedures, and safety documentationStrong ability to interpret engineering requirements, drawings, and technical standardsExperience managing hazardous test environments and enforcing safety protocolsProven experience leading teams, including hiring, mentorship, and performance managementTrack record of managing cost, schedule, and technical performance of test programsStrong communication skills across technical teams and leadership stakeholdersAbility to operate in fast-paced, high-pressure environmentsPreferred ExperienceExperience with spacecraft or in-space propulsion systemsBackground working in government or commercial propulsion test facilitiesFamiliarity with instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systemsExperience with test stand integration and control systemsExposure to additive manufacturing in propulsion hardwareExperience scaling test operations in a high-growth environmentWhy Join UsOwnership over propulsion test strategy, execution, and facility operationsDirect impact on development and validation of flight hardwareOpportunity to build and scale a high-performing test organizationExposure to full lifecycle hardware development from concept through validationCompensation Details$140,000 - $180,000#LI-AV
