Job Description Route Coordinator 12-Month Position, 8-hours a day Pay Grade: I GENERAL SUMMARY: The Route Coordinator reports to the Transportation Director and works in partnership with others in the Transportation Department and school district to support a sound transportation program while following federal, state, and local guidelines. Work Tasks/Responsibilities: * Reports to Transportation Director * Assist Principals/Bus Coordinators by recommending school bus drivers/subs * Audit routes: times, lot checks, stops and safety issues * Ensure all bus routes at assigned locations, meet guidelines * Ensure the location/safety of stops * Substitute on buses as needed * Coordinate additional program routes * Collect bus/lot data from each assigned location to ensure driver time/mileage * Re-route any schools/buses at assigned locations to avoid overlapping travel or routing * Provide support, feedback and regular communication to bus drivers in the process of updating and reporting data on the TD29 updates * Investigate accidents; prepare paperwork; obtain pictures; assist at scene * Work with parents and administrators with resolving conflicts regarding bus routing issues * Assist in coordinating the local bus rodeo * Work with TIMS regarding route changes and updating information for the central office * Report and GEO Code questions/concerns to the TIMS Route Supervisors * Enter TIMS data for assigned area * Responsible for preparing and submitting annual Pupil Transportation Report * Organize Buster the Bus safety programs for elementary schools and pre-schools * Assist Route Manager/Route Supervisors as needed * Complete certifications in Edulog Launce Pad for TIMS ADDITIONAL DUTIES * Assist as needed in the Transportation Office * All other duties as assigned by the Director Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: * High School Diploma required * Must hold a CDL with school bus passenger endorsement * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Detail Oriented * Skill in the use of computers and standard office equipment * Working knowledge of school guidelines and BOE policies * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, associates, students, parents and the public Working Conditions: * This work requires regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force * Must be able to step up and down repeatedly and get in and out of vehicles. * Work regularly requires standing, walking, pushing, pulling and repetitive motions or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and lifting and occasionally requires sitting. * Work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to vibration * Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (nonweather), working in high, precarious places, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather).
