**Position Summary:** Under general supervision, the Logistics Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective flow of raw materials, components, and finished goods. This role coordinates some inbound materials for production, manages outbound shipments to customers or distribution centers, and works closely with production planning to prevent delays or stockouts. **Essential Functions of the Job:** + Schedule outbound shipments of finished goods to customers and distribution centers + Collaborate with production planning, procurement, and warehouse teams to align material availability with manufacturing forecasts + Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, WIP (work-in-progress), and finished goods + Manage carrier relationships and negotiate freight rates + Track shipments and resolve delays to avoid production downtime + Prepare and process shipping documentation (BOLs, packing lists, invoices, customs paperwork if applicable) + Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company safety standards + Support cycle counts, inventory audits, and material reconciliation + Analyze logistics KPIs such as on-time delivery, freight cost per unit, inventory turnover, and supplier lead times + Identify process improvements to reduce waste, optimize transportation routes, and improve supply chain efficiency **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):** **Understanding of shipping processes, including BOL creation, freight quoting, and carrier coordination** - Knowledge of warehouse operations, including picking, packing, staging, and loading - Familiarity with inventory control methods such as cycle counting and discrepancy resolution - Understanding of packaging/emballage standards and material handling requirements - Knowledge of ERP or order‑management systems (e.g., Mack portal, Banyan) **Strong organizational and time‑management skills** - Ability to process and release work orders accurately and efficiently - Skill in preparing shipments (whole goods and aftermarket parts) to customer and OEM specifications - Proficiency in online portals and shipping software (Mack portal, Banyan, etc.) - Effective communication skills for coordinating with customers, purchasing, and planning - Ability to identify parts, match documentation, and pull components accurately - Problem‑solving skills for handling inventory discrepancies + Forklift or material‑handling equipment operation (if applicable) **Education and Experience:** + 2-5 years of logistics or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment + Understanding of MRP and production planning processes + Experience working with ERP systems such as **SAP** , **Oracle** , or **Microsoft Dynamics** + Strong Excel and data analysis skills + Knowledge of inventory control and warehouse operations + Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills **Working Conditions:** + Combination of office and manufacturing floor/warehouse setting + May require interaction with suppliers, carriers, and production teams + Occasional extended hours to support production deadlines or urgent shipments The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to identify required material and operate production fabrication equipment (i.e. hand tools, power tools, hand truck, etc.).
