Position Type: Administration - Non-Certified/Assistant DirectorDate Posted: 3/11/2026Location: Plant OperationsDate Available: ASAPClosing Date: Until FilledPosition / Title: Assistant Director of Operations and Logistics Bargaining Unit: ADMDepartment/Location: Plant OperationsWork Days: 261Reports To: Director of Plant OperationsJD Revision Date: 03/10/2026Supervises: Assigned StaffFunction / Position SummaryThe primary purpose of this position is to oversee the day-to-day operational support services within the Plant Operations department, including custodial services, warehouse and distribution functions, district furniture and equipment inventory and deployment, and grounds operations. This position ensures that district facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained while coordinating the efficient movement, storage, and deployment of materials, equipment, and furniture across the district. This role works collaboratively with school administrators, operations staff, and other district departments to ensure facilities and grounds are prepared to support teaching, learning, and district operations.Job Duties / ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and oversight for district-wide custodial operations to ensure facilities are clean, safe, and maintained to established standards.Oversee the district warehouse and distribution operations, including receiving, storage, inventory management, and delivery of curriculum, supplies and equipment.Provide oversight of grounds operations including landscaping, turf maintenance, snow removal, athletic field support, and exterior facility upkeep.Assist in the coordination of furniture planning and distribution for new construction, renovations, classroom moves, programmatic changes.Manage the enduring service contracts for Custodial, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Grounds departments. Perform routine audits and quality assurance assessments.Track project work and ensure compliance with performance and safety guidelines.Oversee and monitor budgets for custodial, grounds, and logistics operations, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and alignment with operational needs and district goals.Assist in the maintenance of the master fields schedule. Coordinates usage of fields with schools, outside groups, district administrators, and other staff.Provide regular updates to the director and district staff in an endeavor to increase departmental efficiencies regarding Coordinator responsibilities and activities.Assist in the procurement of services/products from drafting of a RFP, bidding and evaluating process up to final Board approval.Plan, coordinate and supervise multi-discipline or multi-vendor special projects, providing inspections, project oversight, quality assurance, project close-out, cost monitoring and cost control.Assist in the creation and maintenance of interdepartmental forms and procedures.Acts as the Director's designee under certain authorities/circumstances unless otherwise designated.Manage, oversee and prepare bid notice documents, legal notices, official statements, budget reports, and certification documents.Attend Board of Education Meetings as required.Other duties as assigned.EducationSome college and/or Bachelor's Degree (preferred) in Business Management, Finance, Office Administration, or a similar field and/or five years or commensurate experience as an Assistant Director or equivalent.Bilingual - Spanish/English - written/verbal (preferred).Experience / KnowledgeCustodial Management, Business Management, and Leadership knowledge and experience.Proficient in Google suite and MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Software, and MS Project.Ability to write and review standard operating policies and procedures.Knowledge of accounting terms, spreadsheets, and practices.Knowledge of business/purchasing practices.Skilled in high order mathematical fundamentals and calculating.Attention to detail and accuracy.Must hold a valid Illinois driver's license.Maintain confidentiality.Problem solving skills.Physical DemandsTravel throughout the district in support of the department's operations.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Ability to lift, bend and kneel.Must be able to lift file boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.Terms of EmploymentThis is a 12-month work year position.Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.The salary range for this position is $100,716.00 - $151,055.00.
