Illustrative Examples of Work Performed A Seasonal Boat Greeter is responsible for representing RIDEM in a professional, courteous manner at the DEM State Boat Ramp(s) at lakes, ponds, or rivers where they are assigned to interact with the public, boating community. A Boat Greeter interacts with boaters to assist with detailed visual observations of parked motor boats, paddle craft, trailers, and associated gear. Greeter may educate visitors about aquatic invasive species, explain decontamination methods, and distribute brochures or educational materials. Greeters must operate handheld tablet to record data on boat traffic, boater interactions, and plant observations. Boat greeters must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions. State Boat ramps experience high visitation during peak periods such as weekends and holidays, therefore weekends and holiday shifts are expected. Required Qualifications for Appointment: Eligible candidates must have reliable mode of transportation, and must be at least 16 years of age. Comfort engaging with the public, strong interpersonal and clear spoken communication skills required. Essential job functions require movement across uneven terrain, reaching with hands and arms, bending, kneeling or crouching low to the ground, as well as close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
