Specialty Program Group delivers leading-edge specialty expertise backed by transformative digital capabilities and sophisticated data and analytics. **Job Summary:** The Crime & Theft Specialist - Supply Chain Fraud and Cargo Theft is responsible for supporting the insurance organization's efforts to identify, analyze, investigate, and mitigate losses related to cargo theft, supply chain fraud, and related criminal activity. This role provides subject-matter expertise across claims, underwriting, and risk management functions, with a focus on loss causation, fraud detection, trend analysis, and exposure reduction. The specialist works closely with claims teams, underwriters, insureds, recovery vendors, and law enforcement to drive accurate claim outcomes and proactive loss prevention strategies and theft risk analysis of current and potential clients. **Core Responsibilities:** **Investigative Support** + Analyze cargo theft and supply chain crime claims to identify indicators of fraud, misrepresentation, organized criminal involvement, and information that helps with liability-based decisions + Conduct in‑depth reviews of loss circumstances, shipping documentation, carrier records, GPS/telematics data, and security protocols. + Assist claims handlers with complex or high‑severity cargo theft and fraudulent loss events to clarify the details and circumstances involved in a loss. + Identify red flags such as fictitious pickups, double brokering, staged thefts, identity fraud, and policy abuse. **Loss Trend & Exposure Analysis** + Track cargo theft and supply chain crime trends across the industry and apply this intelligence and knowledge to insured portfolios, regions, commodities, and transportation modes. + Analyze loss data to identify emerging threats, systemic weaknesses, and high‑risk trends, methods, and gaps + Contribute to internal intelligence reports, heat maps, and threat assessments that can educate both underwriters and claim handlers on current issues. **Underwriting & Risk Advisory Support** + Serve as a subject‑matter expert to underwriting teams on cargo theft risk, fraud exposure, and loss prevention controls. + Participate in underwriting reviews for high‑risk accounts or classes of business to more accurately assess theft loss risk. + Evaluate insureds' security measures, transportation practices, and vendor management controls. + Recommend risk mitigation measures to reduce frequency and severity of supply chain crime losses. + Works directly with clients to evaluate risk mitigation around theft and crime and works to help them improve in these efforts where possible **Reporting & Documentation** + Prepare clear, concise investigative and risk assessment summaries, claim analyses, and executive-level briefings. + Document findings in accordance with regulatory, legal, and internal compliance standards. + Maintain accurate records related to investigations, referrals, and outcomes. **Industry Participation:** + Participate in relevant industry organizations such as TAPA, Regional Security Counsels, and Cargo theft and Supply Chain Security Organizations + Speaks, trains, and teaches at related industry events and organizations where customers, potential customers, and relevant organizations are involved + Identifies potential industry-based vendors and resources or bring worthwhile products to bear that could assist in SPG's efforts to mitigate risk with its client base **Performance Indicators:** + Identification and prevention of theft and crime related risks + Reduction in loss severity and frequency + Quality and timeliness of outlined support activities + Effective collaboration with underwriting and claims teams + Actionable intelligence delivered to stakeholders **Salary Transparency:** Disclosure required under applicable law in California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, and Washington states: The expected salary range for this position is $120,000-$130,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position's business line, scope and level.
