DescriptionTEMPORARYStart Date: Mid-May 2026DELIVERY SYSTEMS SUMMER SUPPORTOperations & Maintenance Division$15-$18 per hour (DOE)ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONThe Upper Occoquan Service Authority (UOSA) is a regional water reclamation plant serving four jurisdictions (Fairfax County, Prince William County, City of Manassas, and City of Manassas Park).DUTIES INCLUDESummer Hire is responsible for performing tasks from simple and repetitive to more challenging and difficult. Assignments are performed independently as well as in conjunction with other employees and may involve tasks to be learned on the job. Work is mainly performed under the guidance of the Delivery Systems Managers, who assigns work and checks completion. The Summer Hire receives supervision from the DS Manager, DS Assistant Manager, and Operators.Examples of Work (include, but are not limited to): Assist Operators- Miss Utility marking, CCTV/flushing interceptors, easement clearing. Preventive Management - Power wash driveways and concrete walkways, buildings, vaults, etc. Fence Management - Clear fence easement of weeds and debris; remove vines. Trees/bushes - Plant, prune limbs, water, etc. Manhole repairs- Tap threads, mix concrete, and parge rings. Pump Station housekeeping chores. Clean louvers and intake screens of bugs and debris. More intensive and complex pump station PM/CM tasks are available as abilities are demonstrated.RequirementsREQUIRED, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Completion of high school or GED is desired. The individual must have the knowledge or aptitude to learn principles of operations for tools used in the trade. Must be able to learn how to interpret and work from equipment manuals and work order descriptions. Must be familiar with basic computer operation. Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, to include extensive walking, bending, stooping, climbing of stairs and ladders, lifting, and carrying up to 75 lbs.
