Overview As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will be responsible for providing physical therapy treatment to patients of all ages under the direction and supervision of physical therapist. All procedures are carried out in accordance with established standards, policies, protocols and guidelines. Overview of the Program The Memorial Horizons Program provides students enrolled in Radiography, Surgical Technology, and Sonography degree programs with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, receive financial support, and secure a pathway to employment at Memorial Health after graduation. Eligibility Criteria The Horizons Program is open to external candidates and current Memorial Health colleagues in the first year of their major program of study and will graduate in May 2027. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited allied health program that aligns with Memorial's workforce needs, maintain the minimum required GPA and have completed all prerequisite coursework. Applicants must complete an employment application and an interview as part of the competitive selection process. Individuals selected for the Horizons Program must maintain satisfactory academic progress, have no active corrective actions on file, and exhibit behaviors that align with Memorial's values to remain eligible. Benefits of Working While In School Individuals who are selected for the Horizons Program will work at Memorial Health as a per diem colleague while attending school. This allows participants to gain valuable hands-on experience, work alongside Memorial clinicians, and prepare them for their careers at Memorial after graduation. Financial Opportunities Individuals selected for the Horizons Program will receive a bi-weekly stipend of $1,000.00 during the second year of their program (August 2026-May 2027). Stipends are subject to applicable taxes and deductions. As a Memorial colleague who is working per diem while attending school, you may also be eligible for up to $5250 per calendar year in Tuition Assistance. In addition, individuals selected for the Horizons Program will be eligible for sign-on incentives at the time of graduation. Pathway to Employment After Graduation Graduates of the Horizons Program will be placed in full-time roles designated by Memorial Health upon meeting all graduation and licensing requirements. Participants must commit to working at Memorial Health for three years after graduation. Qualifications Education and/or Other Requirements High school graduate or equivalent. Previous patient care experience helpful. CPR required within 30 day of starting. Responsibilities Essential Functions and Job DutiesTransports patients to and from hospital therapy services as needed. Assists with patient care in the clinic, satellite, patient room, or other off campus locations as requested by Rehabilitation staff.Maintains department's supplies and equipment; may recommend purchase of new items.Greets and checks in all outpatients at off campus clinicsPrepares other treatment areas including but not limited to; setting up sterile dressing fields, treatment mats, etc...Performs general clerical and housekeeping duties:ScanningGeneral clerical duties as needed (copying, faxing, filing, etc.)Answering phonesSchedulingSupply orderingClinic cleanup, linen stocking/changing/ordering.Maintains cleaning logsPerforms cleaning of hydrocollators and cold pack machinesRemains attentive to patient safety issues and to the need for maintaining a clean and safe environment.Maintains patient/family confidentiality to comply with HIPPA regulations.Performs other duties as assigned by Director, Managers, Team Leaders, and clinical staff.Actively looks for ways to reduce costs. Environmental Factors This position is performed within an environment of occasional exposure to environmental variations, above-normal noise-level, and/or unpleasant substances and limited exposure to hazardous or potentially injurious elements or conditions.
