Licensed Specialist in School Psychology JobID: 1124 Position Type: Student Support Services/Psychologist Date Posted: 5/13/2025 Location: Admn Annex Additional Information: Show/Hide Beaumont independent school district Job Description JOB TITLE: Licensed Specialist in School Psychology CLASSIFICATION: Exempt REPORTS TO: Senior Director for Special Services PAY GRADE: ADM PayGrd Choose # of days worked LOCATION: Administration Annex DATE REVISED: 4/13/2021 FUNDED BY: PRIMARY PURPOSE: To deliver psychological and educational services including assessment, intervention, behavior management, and consultation to facilitate learning and promote the cognitive, social, and personal development of children representing a range of ages, populations, and needs. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: * Doctorate/Master's Degree from an accredited university with an emphasis in school psychology, educational psychology, or related field * Valid TSBEP Licensure as Licensed Specialist in School Psychology or "Trainee" letter from TSBEP Special Knowledge/Skills: * Proficiency in psychological testing * Ability to deliver psychological services in a comprehensive delivery model * Knowledge of current assessment techniques * Effective oral and written communication skills * Ability to work with school and community populations * General knowledge of computer systems and software applications is required * Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and guidelines * Assessment of cognitive, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral functioning among children, adolescents, and young adults * Behavioral consultation * Behavior intervention planning and implementation * Counseling * Effective interpersonal and technical writing skills MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Assessment 1.Conduct multi-method and multi-source psychological evaluations and reevaluations as part of a multidisciplinary team. 2.Utilize professional standards for writing reports of evaluation results. terpret and explain assessment results in a format understood by educators and parents while providing relevant recommendations, strategies, and resources based on results. * Participate in ARD/IEP committee meetings, pre-referral intervention staffing, and multidisciplinary team meetings. Collaboration and Consultation 5.Collaborate with teachers and parents to develop effective solutions to learning and behavior problems. * Strengthen working relationships between educators, parents, and community services and help others understand child development and how it affects learning and behavior. Intervention and Prevention 7.Work directly and in directly with students, teachers, and parents to help resolve problems in behavior and learning. 8.Develop appropriate interventions and strategies to assist individual students in academic growth and school adjustment. 9.Provide short-term group or individual counseling to resolve problems that interfere with school performance. 10.Utilize knowledge of behavioral principles to develop and assist in the implementation of specific behavioral management plans for individual students, classrooms, and schools. 11.Provide training and assistance in intervention techniques and strategies designed to improve student success in the school setting. * Coordinate and provide district/campus Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training Research and Planning 13.Evaluate the effectiveness of academic intervention programs and behavior management programs. 14.Use evidence-based research to develop and/or recommend effective interventions. 15.Identify, implement, and evaluate programs and strategies to improve student learning and behavior. Professional Practice and Development 16.Conduct oneself in a professional, ethical manner in accordance with established standards in the field of school psychology. 17.Take the initiative to develop needed professional skills appropriate for job assignments. 18.Perform duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators. * Perform any other relevant professional duties assigned WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands * Maintain emotional control under stress * Work with frequent interruptions * Occasional prolonged or irregular hours of work Physical Demands * Light lifting and carrying, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, repetitive hand motions; frequent bending and stooping * Prolonged use of computer Environmental Demands * Normal office environment * Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; moderate lifting and carrying.
