OverviewCatholic Charities of Buffalo is seeking a full-time Mental Health Clinician for our Behavioral Health unit, Monsignor Carr Institute (MCI). The Mental Health Therapist will report directly to the Clinic Supervisor.Catholic Charities is a non-profit organization that offers an array of programs that strive to empower individuals, children, and families. Catholic Charities of Buffalo, NY, is the most comprehensive human service provider serving the eight counties of Western New York with dozens of programs at 40+ professionally staffed locations. Our programs include comprehensive counseling services for all ages, basic emergency assistance including operating 8 food pantries, mental health services, chemical dependency treatment, educational and job readiness services, services to older adults, marriage counseling, immigration and refugee assistance, and a variety of programs that address prevention and treatment of a number of family issues. We strive to provide HOPE for all seasons.Job ResponsibilitiesOrient new clients to treatment expectations and course of outpatient treatmentComplete comprehensive initial assessments to determine appropriateness for admission and course of treatmentAdmit clients to the program as per policy and regulations; make appropriate referrals if clients do not meet admission criteriaDevelop and update treatment plans, including needs, strengths, safety, and corresponding plan of careProvide individual, group, and family therapy based on the client's treatment planCommunicate with clients' families, designated collaterals, and service providers; collaborate with other programs for comprehensive careRe-engage clients who withdraw from treatment when clinically appropriateDischarge clients per policy; complete discharge summaries and facilitate "warm" hand-offsConduct sessions in-person or via approved teletherapy platformsProduce accurate, timely progress notes reflecting the client's status, progress, and treatment goalsComplete outpatient treatment review (OTR) forms and other required documentation promptly and accuratelyConduct case record self-audits as requiredAdhere to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including those governing confidentiality, privacy, program, billing, and documentation standardsPromote adherence to high ethical standards, consistent with the Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, legal mandates, labor laws, and accreditation standards (e.g., COA, BBB)Perform all duties in accordance with CCB's corporate compliance and ethics programSeek guidance, consultation, and direction from supervisors and treatment team membersParticipate in required staff meetings and designated trainingAttend educational training to maintain skills and keep credentials up to date, including completing required continuing education units (CEUs)Take necessary steps to complete licensure if hired with a master's degree only and/or provisional licensureExemplify Catholic Charities' mission, vision, guiding principles, and policies and proceduresPromote and reinforce client-centered, strengths-based, solution-focused trauma-informed careCultivate a culture of sensitivity and respect for diversityInfuse agency values in therapeutic care, offering quality, client-centered, strengths-based, solution-focused behavioral health and substance abuse servicesQualificationsMaster's degree and at least a license-eligible degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing or related discipline. Achievement and maintenance of New York State license (LMSW, LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, LMFT, or LCAT) is required for continued employment.
