Sterling Stamping Plant's Quality team is currently seeking a Resident Engineer professional to join our quality team. This position offers the selected candidate an opportunity to be an integral part of company whose focus is to change the automotive landscape.Job Responsibilities include:Support corporate quality objectives/deliverables and communicate customer demands to all groups involved to ensure organizational successProvide expert technical leadership in coordinating and directing cross functional teams in the application of quality initiativesProvide clear direction to skilled and non-skilled trades in the operation of product testing and evaluation to generate necessary quality test dataCollaborate and lead internal and external resources to maintain strong customer relationships with dedication to the program scheduleProtect product design intent and function while assisting with identification and solutions of manufacturing constraintsDeliver statistical analysis of data on competition, customer direction, product performance, employee performance and perception of the customer to the manufacturing team membersProvide technical direction to employees regarding root cause analysis, issue resolution and establish corrective actions serving as the subject matter expert (SME) within the manufacturing facilityInterpret released engineering designs, specifications, materials and standards for hourly and salary personnelEngineer process variation reductionEmploy advanced problem-solving expertise to correct unfavorable variances and communicate alternative measures to mitigate engineering, timing and/or financial issuesEmpowered (hold authority) to cease and commence product related activities in relation to quality related issuesLead teams to identify risks/hazards associated with product designs, processes, applications, applying lessons learned, and assist in the generation of FMEA's and associated control plansProvides supervision necessary to perform, administer or direct rework/repair methods and processes in compliance with engineering standardsBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in engineering or a bachelor's degree with relevant experienceWell-versed in Excel, PowerPoint and MS AccessEffective presentation/public speaking skillsExperienced with problem solving toolsDemonstrated ability to coach and teach othersStrong communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to communicate details from executive level to plant staff levelAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work off shift hours as necessarySelf-motivated and directedPreferred Qualifications:Advanced degreeExperience with BIW commodityExperience in the design, testing and assembly of BIW assembliesExperience working in a union environmentBackground in LEAN manufacturing principles or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and problem-solving techniquesApplicable work experience
