$25,000 Sign On Bonus - External Candidates Only The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs Cardiopulmonary duties by hospital policy/procedure under general supervision. This can include administering respiratory treatments, airway management, ventilator management, blood gases, and other noninvasive cardiology procedures. This individual will be held to a high level of customer service representation and will be an active participant in the continuous quality improvement process. Serves as a resource to other employees. Education Associate Degree or 2 years of college coursework Experience One year of related experience. Requires working knowledge of standard practices and procedures. Licenses & Certifications * Registered Respiratory Therapist * Respiratory Care Professional * Healthcare Provider (CPR) * ACLS Certification * NRP Certification Qualifications * Must attend S.T.A.B.L.E. baby course within 18 months of employment. * Must become certified in ACLS within 8 months of employment. * Has at least 1 year Level III NICU experience either with Tanner or at another Level III NICU facility. Area of Responsibilities * Administers respiratory treatments and oxygen therapy correctly and in a timely manner. Participates in airway management during CODEs. Performs ventilator care according to established policy and protocols. Must be able to set priorities to complete daily assignments. * Demonstrates the ability to coordinate cardiopulmonary care of the patient with other departments which fosters multidisciplinary care planning. * Participates in Performance improvement activities by helping to identify, monitor, and achieve improvement goals established by the department * Provides exceptional customer service to patients, families, visitor, physicians, and other employees. Through the established systems and protocols used to evaluate staff for excellent customer service employee will achieve the set goals. * Working knowledgeable of departmental policies and procedures and standards of care practice. Documentation is in compliance with hospital policy and regulatory agencies. * Accountable for use and ordering of supplies and maintaining inventory. * Accurately evaluates self and meets pre-established professional goals. * Acts as preceptor/mentor for students and new employees. * Attends All High Risk C-sections Deliveries as defined by policy * Complies with standards set forth by the Joint commission and other regulatory agencies. * Demonstrates awareness of policies and procedures regarding restraints and administers procedures appropriately to restrained patients. * Demonstrates behaviors necessary for age-specific care and knowledge of decision making process for all ages of the population(s) served. Demonstrates ability to communicate appropriately with various ages. Demonstrates ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of patient served. As appropriate involves family/significant other in treatment process. * Effectively operates and understands the use of specialized equipment. * Has at least 1 year Level III NICU experience either with Tanner or at another Level III NICU facility. * Knowledgeable of and follows OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Regulations. * Must Train and Check Off on Out of Hospital Acute Transports. * Obtains Neonatal Pediatric Specialty credential ( NPS) within 18 months of hire. This credential must be kept current to remain NICU RRT. * Participates in continuing education as mandated per policy. * Participates in multi-disciplinary patient care conferences. * Rotating Weekend, Holiday, and Call are required to assure quality care. Compliance Statement Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline. Work is subject to general review only and requires considerable accuracy and responsibility. Continually works with reports, records, plans, and programs of a major functional area of the organization where integrity is required to safeguard the organization's position. Duties may involve the preparation of data on which the administration bases important decisions and are highly confidential. Supervisory Responsibility Has limited supervision over a small section of employees (up to 15), i.e. assigns and directs their work; instructs new employees and corrects results, may discuss with supervisor, but has no authority over job content or personnel. Team governance where the Members evaluate, interview, and recommend personnel actions. Mental Demands Simple unvarying operations under immediate and close supervision. Uses one or a few simple, specific procedures allowing little or no variation. Physical Effort Moderate physical effort - Lifts, carries, or handles lightweight (1 to 25 lbs.) materials or equipment for about half of the day. Very occasional physical effort with medium weight objects (25- 60 lbs.). Office or laboratory work requires close visual effort and concentration more than half of day. Works in reaching or strained positions for less than half of day. Working Conditions Considerable - (About 75% of the day) Involved in exposure to dirt, odors, noise, or some work is performed with exposure to temperature/weather extremes/occupational risk and probability of coming into contact with blood borne pathogens, other potentially infectious diseases, or biomedical/bio-hazardous materials.
