Why you'll love this job The Managing Director, Business Transformation sets and leads enterprise transformation strategy, delivers material value, and embeds operating model change across the organization. The role sits within the Business Transformation team in Finance. Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations. * Define and lead multi-year transformation strategies aligned to enterprise priorities. * Partner with senior executives to identify and prioritize high-impact initiatives. * Own a portfolio of transformation initiatives with accountability for outcomes. * Establish governance, performance management, and value-tracking mechanisms. * Lead cross-functional teams across finance, operations, technology, and commercial groups. * Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and prepare board-ready materials. * Lead and develop Directors and Senior Managers, building a strong leadership bench. All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience * Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline, or equivalent experience/training; Advanced Degree (MBA) preferred * 10 years of progressive leadership experience, including leading multi-level and large cross-functional initiatives * 10 years of progressive experience in strategy, transformation, consulting, or related roles * Deep understanding of our customers, our business/competitive environment, and airline economics * Prior experience with budget tracking, variance reporting, cost analysis, and developing & reporting performance metrics Skills, Licenses, and Certifications * Demonstrates the highest standards of personal ethics and integrity * Demonstrates an exceptionally disciplined, data driven approach to analysis with the ability to communicate insights effectively to executive stakeholders * Ability to successfully lead cross-functional projects within complex stakeholder environments * Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal, collaboration, and negotiation skills * Ability to think strategically, negotiate skillfully, digest complex details, and use sound judgment & initiative in making decisions * Ability to drive collaboration and facilitate effective relationships across different work groups and levels of the company * Ability to be flexible in rapidly changing conditions and priorities, as well as to embrace ambiguity and enable clarity * Superior communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with ability to handle complex topics comfortably and to interact effectively with all levels, both verbally and written * Ability to coach, mentor, and serve as a role model for all team members What you'll get Feel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer: * Travel Perks: Ready to explore the world?
