Job Coach - Adult Transition Program JobID: 4731 Position Type: Job Coach/SPED Job Coach Date Posted: 5/6/2025 Location: District Date Available: August, 2025 Closing Date: When position is filled   Additional Information: Show/Hide Position Title: Support Staff-Job Coach Location: Adult Transition Program Reports To: ATP Coordinator and Director of Special Education Summary & Purpose The Job Coach supports students with disabilities in the Adult Transition Program by providing direct vocational coaching, job-site supervision, and skills training to promote independence in competitive and supported employment settings. This position helps bridge the gap between school-based learning and real-world workplace expectations in alignment with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) transition goals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Accompany and support students with disabilities at community-based job sites, providing direct coaching on work performance, workplace behavior, and job-specific skills Implement IEP transition goals and document student progress toward vocational objectives using district-approved systems Collaborate with Special Education case managers, teachers, and transition coordinators to ensure alignment between classroom instruction and community job placements Communicate regularly with employers, supervisors, and job-site contacts regarding student performance and any accommodations needed Maintain accurate, confidential student records including attendance, progress notes, and incident documentation per district procedures Assist in the development and modification of job-site training plans based on individual student needs and progress Transport or accompany students to and from employment sites as assigned Participate in IEP meetings, transition planning conferences, and team meetings as requested Support students in developing workplace readiness skills including punctuality, communication, professional conduct, and problem-solving EXPECTATIONS Maintain regular, reliable attendance at assigned job sites and school-based meetings Complete all required district and state-mandated training, including but not limited to: CPR/AED certification, mandated reporter training, and district required training. Remain current on relevant federal and Illinois state laws pertaining to individuals with disabilities, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Maintain confidentiality of all student information in accordance with FERPA and district policy QUALIFICATIONS Required: High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 60 semester hours of college coursework, OR a baccalaureate degree, OR demonstrated competency via a state or locally-approved assessment (per ESSA paraprofessional requirements) Eligibility for or possession of a Paraprofessional approval through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Experience working with individuals with disabilities in a vocational, educational, or community-based setting Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field Prior experience as a job coach, transition specialist, or paraprofessional in a school setting Familiarity with community-based instruction and supported employment models Valid Illinois driver's license COMPLIANCE LANGUAGE All employees must adhere to district Board Policy, administrative procedures, and the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CHSD 218 Support Staff Agreement, I.E.A. Local 218). Employees in this role are subject to all relevant Illinois and federal laws governing the education and employment of individuals with disabilities, including IDEA, ADA, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Mandated training requirements must be completed as directed. SALARY & BENEFITS Salary placement is based on the CHSD 218 Support Staff Agreement (I.E.A. Local 218). The 20252026 hourly rate for Job Coaches is $18.99/hr (60 semester hours) or $19.88/hr (BA-level), based on 177 days × 7.5 hours annually.
