Positive Behavior Intervention Specialist

The Science Museum of MInnesota is currently seeking a committed, passionate PositiveBehavior Intervention Specialist, who holds a belief in the ability of our scholars, to join ourteam for the 2026 STEM Freedom School Summer Program. The Positive Behavior InterventionSpecialist will be responsible for setting standards and laying a foundation of academic andclassroom success for scholars by providing high-quality, relevant instruction to scholars andstaff to promote a positive learning environment. This position provides research basedtargeted intervention in areas of behavior and social emotional learning.Job Duties & Responsibilities1. Provide classroom management and scholar redirection support and practical training tostaff.2. Assist scholars, staff and all stakeholders through the application of positive behaviorsupports.3. Provide classroom behavior management strategies that will help scholars becomesuccessful.4. Create and led school-wide behavior management strategies that will help scholarsbecome academically successful and support teachers classroom management5. Monitor and record data pertaining to scholars goals and objectives6. Communicates with parents, students and staff to convey pertinent information whilemaintaining confidentiality of personal information.7. Assist with the development and implementation of a Functional Behavior Assessment,Proactive Behavior Plans and/or Behavior Intervention Plans developed by the IEP Team8. Monitors and supervises student activities; promotes respect, supports diversity, explainssocial norms and disciplinary consequences, de-escalates personal confrontations9. Provides customer service to parents and guardians, answers questions, and explainsschool rules.10. Deliver high-quality, individualized strategies based on scholars' needs.11. Participate in weekly meetings with grade-level staff.12. Collaborate with the STEM Freedom School Director, Manager, and staff as needed.13. Performs other related duties as assigned.Required Competencies1. Results Orientation: Focuses on providing a best in class visitor experience through workoutcomes by meeting personal and organizational work objectives.Minimum QualificationsEducation: Experience and training in crisis interventions. Crisis intervention andprevention trainingExperience: Experience in conflict resolution strategies and a variety of disciplinestrategies. Ability to assist in writing Functional Behavioral Assessments, Proactive BehaviorPlans, and Behavior Intervention Plans. Experience in communicating behavior managementtechniques.
