Schedule: PRN Shift: Day-Weekend (United States of America) Address: 1055 SAXON BLVD City: ORANGE CITY State: Florida Postal Code: 32763 Job Description: 8 hour shifts--flexibility is required. The retail pharmacy is currently open from Monday through Friday 9 to 6. The hours are set to expand to 9 am to 9 pm in the near future and will include weekends. Receives verbal prescriptions via Interactive Voice Response or telephone from physician's office and immediately reduces to writing. Contacts prescriber for any clarifications or necessary recommendation prior to forwarding to appropriate staff member. Transfers prescriptions either incoming or outgoing to appropriate retail pharmacies following state and federal laws. Evaluates prescriptions in the pharmacy computer system for accuracy, drug utilization review (DUR), and patient history. Checks both new and refill prescription orders for correct medication, labeling, and any errors initially missed. Provides support and education to technician staff to decrease overall error rate in the order entry and fulfillment processes. Partners with other departments for timely resolution of requests/inquiries to include pharmacy, shipping, customer service, and production, and follows up on requests to ensure they were handled appropriately and in a timely manner. Fills and packs all Schedule 2 Controlled Substances while maintaining an accurate inventory, and processes daily orders ensuring that only contracted items are purchased. Accepts incoming telephone requests from plan members for medication consultation, patient education, mail order process, and interchange processes. Assists in training and orientation of new employees, and participates in quality improvement programs and educational activities. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Ability to communicate to physician or office personnel regarding prescription clarifications, drug interactions, appropriate uses of medications in a professional manner. [Required] * Displays superior customer service skills and acts as a role model when communicating with partners, clients, patients or physician's office personnel on the phone and must be able to retain composure under pressure to achieve positive outcomes. [Required] * Understands different state laws in regards to transferring medication from one pharmacy to another. [Required] * Provides patients and partners with appropriate drug information education commensurate with different learning assessment levels. [Required] * Expected to communicate consistently in a positive and professional manner, giving accurate information to all external as well as internal customers [Required] * Ability to provide oral and written communication using sensitivity, good judgment and a caring attitude to be displayed; providing an uplifting (yet realistic) outlook on what the future holds and the opportunities it may present. [Required] * Good decision-making skills, including expert problem-solving skills, problem analysis, and discernment under pressure.
