Job Description

Position: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Coordinator The Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and coordinating trauma-informed, brain-injury-responsive services across all VOA-GNY Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking programs. This role ensures that survivors with suspected or confirmed traumatic or acquired brain injuries receive accessible, culturally responsive, and disability-affirming support. The TBI Coordinator conducts specialized screenings, collaborates with internal and external partners, trains staff, and guides individualized service planning to promote safety, stabilization, and long-term independence. The role adheres to all requirements set by VOA-GNY and funding sources regulations. To learn more about the program, copy and paste this link into a browser Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Public Health, Mental Health, Human Services, or related field (Master's preferred). Minimum 2-3 years of direct experience working with individuals with traumatic or acquired brain injury, neurological disorders, or cognitive impairments. Demonstrated experience working with survivors of Domestic Violence and/or Human Trafficking preferred. Knowledge of NYS disability, rehabilitation, and victim-services regulations, including OVS standards. Strong assessment, collaboration, training, and case consultation skills. Excellent communication, organization, and analytical abilities. Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Coordinator Principal Responsibilities: Conduct evidence-based TBI/ABI screenings for DV/HT survivors across VOA-GNY programs. Complete functional assessments related to cognitive, behavioral, and safety impacts. Develop individualized accommodation plans aligned with funder requirements. Coordinate referrals to neurological, rehabilitation, behavioral health, and victim-service providers. Collaborate with case managers, clinicians, housing specialists, and victim advocates. Provide consultation on accommodations, cognitive challenges, and OVS-eligible supports. Track screening outcomes, referrals, and accommodations. Ensure safety planning integrates TBI-specific considerations. Design and deliver staff training on TBI basics, screening tools, accommodations, and funder standards. Develop resource directories and educational materials for survivors. Provide coaching and technical assistance on trauma- and disability-responsive engagement. Maintain documentation aligned with VOA-GNY, funders, and NYS regulations. Assist with reports for leadership, funder, and audits. Participate in audits and readiness activities. Serve as liaison to hospitals, specialists, victim-service partners. Monitor emerging best practices from funders, and TBI associations. Identify service gaps and recommend improvements based on data and feedback.
