POSITION SUMMARYThe Respiratory Therapy Assistant (RTA) is responsible for the verification of demographic and financial information frompatients to ensure that reimbursement requirements are met. This job has the responsibility for theverification of patient eligibility for insurance benefits, including but not limited to, Medicare, MedicalAssistance, and numerous third-party payers to assure adequate and timely reimbursement. Thisposition is also responsible for the daily insurance verification, prior authorization, and correct postingof charges for respiratory home care, home medical equipment and supplies, and contract billing (viaSales Order creation) for his/her assigned caseload of patients. The RTA representsCompany services to the public. This role has direct contact with our patients and provides professionaland courteous service. The job works under the general supervision of the Respiratory TherapySupervisor but works with a large degree of independence.JOB REQUIREMENTSLicenses: N/AEducation: High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience: Three years of experience in a Home Medical Equipment setting and customer service experience required. Scheduling and team lead experience preferred.Miscellaneous: Must possess the ability to learn and competently work with coworkers, referral sources, and patients. Most possess the ability to learn and work with computer programs such as Health Link and Brightree. Must be proficient in medical terminology and abbreviations.TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Reviews referral data for compliance and appropriateness of insurance coverage of home medical equipment.- Creates orders in Brightree for all the following product categories.PAP equipment and suppliesPAP Machine IntakeOvernight OximetryPOCSD cards download.- Communicates federal regulations regarding durable medical equipment and supplies to all our customers (i.e., patients, patient's caregivers, hospital employees, contracted insurances, and businesses).- Attends workshops, meetings, and seminars to keep the department abreast of the changes in legislation, regulations, and industry practices.- Other duties as assigned.
