PICU RN - Schertz, Texas

A skilled Registered Nurse with Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and ventilator experience is needed to provide specialized nursing care during night shifts. This role involves delivering expert care to critically ill pediatric patients, managing complex clinical situations with autonomy, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure the highest standards of care. Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Manage psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families. Administer medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness. Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care accurately. Assess patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education. Participate in competency validations and adhere to nursing standards and protocols. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and delegate tasks as needed. Qualifications: Current Registered Nurse license in Texas (or compact license). Active BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA only). Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Minimum of 1 year of pediatric ICU experience with ventilator management. Experience in pediatric or perinatal nursing preferred. Completion of orientation, preceptorship, and ongoing competency validations required.
