CERTIFIED STERILE PROCESSING TECHNICIAN Department: Sterile Processing Schedule: 40 hours per week, Afternoon Shift, 2:30pm - 11:00pm, Rotating weekends Hospital: Henry Ford Macomb Oakland Hospital Location: Warren, MI Sign on bonus: $7,500 GENERAL SUMMARY: * Inspects, assembles and evaluates all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality, determine need for repair/replacement, validates completeness of set, and facilitates effective sterilization. * Responsibilities: Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning. * Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols. * Corrects instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems. * Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts. * Performs regular quality assurance program audits of peers. REQUIREMENTS: * High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. * Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable. * One or more of the following required: * Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. * Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
