Time Type: Full time Department: CC013230 Central Sterile Summary: Full Time, Monday -Friday 3p-11:30p Additional Information: Central Sterile Technician II Process Instruments and supplies for patient care. As well a monitor and assets in maintaining AAMI standards within the department. Assets Coordinators and Leads with any special projects. Required Education: No education requirements Recommended Education: High school diploma or GED or equivalent Required Work Experience: 2 years of relevant experience; HS Diploma or GED may substitute for 2 years of work experience Recommended Work Experience: Required Certifications: Recommended Certifications: Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) - International Association of Healthcare Central Sterile Material Management (IAHCSMM) Description 1. Promptly decontaminates instruments and equipment according to manufacturer's instructions for use. 2. Washes, organizes and sterilizes instruments following established procedures. 3. Assembles and packages instrument trays, linen packs and supply items. 4. Assembles instrument trays, according to count sheet and AAMI standards, locating missing items and communicating with lead/Manager regarding missing instruments or need for changes to the count sheet. 5. Operates sterilizers and monitors sterilization gauges, charts, tapes and biological/chemical indicators to ensure adequate sterilization. Notifies lead/manager of any concerns. 6. Performs as resource SPD tech and assists with oversight of quality processes according to AAMI standards and manager's instructions. 7. Maintain records for all sterilization quality control and equipment testing results, ensures records are accurate, reports differences to Quality Coordinator/Manager. 8. Ensures sterilizer carts are maintained, clean and in working order. 9. Helps to ensure that a clean, safe, and orderly patient/department environment exists in compliance with infection control, safety, OSHA, and other regulatory processes. 10. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the appropriate department. 11. Acts as a mentor and trainer for new hire technicians to maintain excellent quality in production, outcomes, and positive teamwork 12. Performs other duties as assigned.
