SummaryThe Clinical Optometrist is responsible for delivering comprehensive eye care within a fast-paced ophthalmology practice. This role provides routine and medical optometric services, supports co-management of surgical patients, and contributes to practice growth through high-quality patient care and specialty service development. The Optometrist works collaboratively with the Physician/Owner and clinical team to ensure excellent clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including refractions and medical eye evaluations Diagnose and manage ocular conditions such as dry eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and ocular surface disease Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for surgical patients (e.g., cataract, refractive, and other procedures) Develop and manage treatment plans in alignment with practice protocols and physician guidance Utilize and interpret diagnostic testing, including OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, and other ophthalmic imaging Document all findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record (EMR) Educate patients on diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive eye care in a clear and compassionate manner Support and expand specialty services, particularly in dry eye management and/or ocular aesthetics Identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction, and practice growth through clinical excellence and service development Collaborate closely with the Physician/Owner and clinical team to ensure continuity and quality of care Maintain efficient patient flow while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care Participate in clinical protocols, quality initiatives, and workflow improvements Adhere to HIPAA regulations, safety standards, and infection control policies Stay current with advancements in optometry and ophthalmology through continuing education Qualifications Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited program Active and unrestricted state licensure to practice optometry Experience in a medical/ophthalmology setting preferred Interest or experience in dry eye management and/or ocular aesthetics strongly preferredStrong clinical, diagnostic, and communication skillsSpanish speaking preferredAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care
