The pharmacy department at Temple University Hospital (TUH) - Jeanes Campus provides services through both centralized and decentralized pharmacy models. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)) will be responsible for supporting the ever growing services provided by the Bone Marrow Transplant Department. This role will work collaboratively with specialist from Fox Chase Cancer Center on the inpatient and outpatient units. Over the past few years, this department has grown and continues to add much needed services with additional medical and pharmacy residents, nurse practitioners, and attending providers. With this position, there will be opportunities to directly precept pharmacy residents as well as pharmacy students. With this addition of a third BMT clinical pharmacist, the specialist will rotate between inpatient and outpatient services with the goals of striving to provide exceptional care to the BMT patient population and continuing to advance this flourishing department. Additional services may include assisting with Epic Beacon builds to maximize oncology treatment plans and IRB reviews. An additional BMT specialist may allow for expansion of offered rotations to the pharmacy residents and students to include a BMT Outpatient Ambulatory care rotation in addition to the already provided BMT inpatient experience. The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist is responsible for the provision of advanced Clinical Pharmacy services within acute and ambulatory care settings including, clinical interface with physicians and nurses, process improvement and medication therapy management. Reviews medication orders for compliance with aspects of Pharmaceutical Care. Provides patient education regarding medications. Contributes to specialty practice through committee participation and development of policies, procedures, and pharmacy practice protocols. Trains pharmacy students and pharmacy practice residents. Trains pharmacist staff in areas related to acute and ambulatory care. Directly contributes to patient care through the coordination of departmental clinical practices and programs. Provides in-service education and drug information to health care professionals. Education Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy or PharmD Required Other PGY1 Pharmacy Residency or a relevant combination of education and experience Required Preferred qualifications of this position include the completion of a PharmD degree, PGY1 residency and either PGY2 residency in oncology or equivalent experience in oncology pharmacy practice. These are preferred qualifications; as other experience may also be accepted.
