Job Title: Equity Research Associate - Diversified BiopharmaReports to: Sr. Equity Research AnalystDepartment: Equity ResearchLocation: New YorkSalary Range: $110,000-$170,000 We are seeking a highly motivated and analytically rigorous individual to contribute meaningfully to our equity research team. This person will help produce differentiated therapeutics industry and company research as a member of a leading Wall Street equity research team.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Collect and analyze data related to therapeutics and various diseases, including scientific papers, clinical data, and prescription trendsDraft market research surveys and analyze resultsInterview company executives or medical/industry consultants to develop and maintain sources of information in preparation of analysesBuild, update and maintain financial modelsRebuild and update models for significant financial transactions such as financings, share buy backs and acquisitionsFormulate investment recommendations based on fundamental analysis, valuation and risk assessment of individual companiesWrite research reports and notes on companies for distribution to the Leerink Partners sales force and institutional clientsKeep current of market newsAnswer inquiries from firm personnel and external clientsSupport senior equity research professionals by attending events of special interestExperience and Qualifications Required:Deep medical/scientific background, strong financial modeling expertise and excellent written & verbal communication skills.Qualified candidates will have either formal scientific training (PhD, MD, DVM or MSc), or direct industry experience in financial reporting and controls in the biopharmaceutical industry, or relevant biopharmaceutical investment research experience in either sell side research or private or public buy side investing, or significant industry analytical experience in a relevant consulting firmPrior business experience: at least 2 years of consulting experience at a leading consulting firm; or two years of industry business development experience at a leading pharmaceutical or biotechnology firm; or 2 years of investment banking analyst training in healthcare at a recognized investment banking firmPrior business education: MBA, CPA or CFA, or other formal business trainingAdvanced accounting skills preferredStrong quantitative, financial modeling, forecasting and Excel skillsFamiliarity and knowledge of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries including clinical development, regulatory affairs, business development and commercializationExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to search, understand and interpret scientific and medical publicationsSolid understanding of statistical analysis techniquesStrong team player who works well with othersAbout Leerink Partners, LLCLeerink Partners is a leading investment bank providing a complete suite of financial solutions comprising M&A advisory, equity, debt, and derivative capital markets, equity research, and sales and trading capabilities.
