About the Role: Under the direction of the Director of EH&S - Weld-On, the EHS Specialist is responsible for providing EH&S support related to general EH&S duties including: maintaining all aspects of environmental, health and safety programs such as training, creating safety posters/signs, collecting EH&S data, working with EH&S contractors, investigating accidents/incidents, creating EH&S dashboards, EH&S recordkeeping, assisting in running EH&S steering committee meetings, etc., to assure highest degree of employee safety and 100% environmental compliance for the company. This position will be the point of contact for EH&S issues in case the EH&S Director is unavailable. He/she will assist in the review, evaluation, and analysis of the work environment to design programs and procedures so as to be in compliance and to control, eliminate, and prevent injuries. The Weld-On Division of IPS Corporation manufactures market-leading industrial adhesives and pipe cement products sold to wholesale distributors here in the U.S and across the globe. Our products enable users to do a professional job working with PVC, CPVC, ABS, etc. piping especially in the construction industry. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Provide support for the entire EH&S function across the Weld-On division of IPS Corporation. * Provide support and guidance on EH&S policies and procedures to all managers, supervisors, and employees. * Maintain paper based and electronic recordkeeping files. * Maintain all records in the EH&S system. * Serve as backup to the EH&S Director. * Evaluate risks, discuss, and provide advice to department managers, supervisors, and employees to manage risk in line with IPS policies and procedures. * Investigate injuries and illnesses associated with the workplace, prepare recording methods to document hazards, as necessary, and prepare reports and recommendations of investigation results including root-cause. * Coordinate and/or provide safety training on appropriate health and safety matters as assigned and as required by law. * Operate, maintain and calibrate environmental, health and safety monitoring, reporting and recordkeeping files. * Conduct audits of facilities and operations to identify potentially hazardous conditions and safety hazards associated with use of equipment, materials, structures, vehicles, equipment, etc., and other outdoor activities, and also maintain records of audit results. * Maintain knowledge of contemporary environmental, health and safety issues. * Serve on EH&S steering committee as requested. * Inspect and monitor work areas, facilities and work practices and procedures for compliance with established workplace environmental, health and safety rules, regulations and policies, and prepare records and reports of findings. * Train employees and/or vendors as assigned. * Coordinate and support the development and execution of the facility 5S program across all departments, including training, implementation planning, audits, and sustainment activities. * Partner with site leadership to establish 5S standards, visual management expectations, and accountability processes to drive continuous improvement and workplace organization. * Coordinate and deliver EHS training programs for all functional areas, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. * Maintain training records, track completion status, and provide reporting to site leadership on training progress and gaps. * Support leadership in reinforcing a culture of safety, engagement, and operational discipline through training, communication, and employee involvement initiatives. * Participate in professional development and training. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * High School Diploma or GED with minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing plant. * Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in environmental, health and safety related field. * Knowledge and understanding of: * EH&S policies and procedures * EH&S systems currently in place * Office and administrative procedures * EH&S project coordination * Computer literate (Microsoft suite, and other electronic record keeping systems). * Good working relationship with managers, supervisors, and employees. * Effective communication skills - writing, listening and speaking * Work autonomously without constant supervision * Work effectively with managers, supervisors, and employees under sometimes challenging conditions. * Ability to respond promptly in-person to all locations requiring environmental, health and safety services. * Willing to gain knowledge of EH&S rules and regulations through training provided in the field of environmental, health and safety compliance. Additional Desirable Qualifications: * Ability and willing to earn technical certification in the EH&S discipline. * Training and communication skills. * Knowledge of applicable rules, laws, regulations, codes, guidelines etc. related to workplace environmental health and safety functions.
