Your Role The Protein & Cell Biology Specialist is a field-based, technical sales specialist within the Life Science/Discovery Solutions division of MilliporeSigma. This is a vital commercial role responsible for full sales-cycle ownership and support for a diverse range of Protein & Cell Biology products, consumables, and software applications within the MilliporeSigma Biology portfolio. In this role, you will engage with customers daily, providing technical product information, conducting laboratory-based training sessions, troubleshooting issues, and delivering exceptional support. You will play a key role in driving sales growth across all industry segments, Pharma, Testing, Academic, and Industrial. You will be responsible for prospecting new customers, cultivating strong relationships, and differentiating and positioning our products and services based on scientific, technical, and competitive insights. As a subject matter expert in the advanced cell culture and immunoassay workflow, you will also become proficient in new product introductions in the adjacent workflows. Position Responsibilities: * Technical Sales Support and Prospecting: Provide proactive pre- and post-sales technical support to MilliporeSigma Discovery Solutions sales partners, enabling them to efficiently identify and capitalize on product and instrumentation opportunities through internal product education, account-specific seminars, in-field/hands-on application training, and customer collaborations. Engage in prospecting activities to build a strong pipeline and facilitate sales conversions. Focus areas include Specialty Cell Culture (organoids, stem cells, primary cells), Proteomics (ELISAs, single and multiplexing immunoassays), and instrumentation (Luminex, SMC, BioTek plate washers, AAW Automated Assay Workstation, Millicell ERS 3.0, Scepter, and CellASIC ONIX2). Collaborate with commercial teams to create tailored offerings that highlight product advantages. * Quoting and Sales Cycle Management: Develop quotes for customers by understanding their needs and ensuring that our product offerings align with their scientific goals. Leverage your expertise in CRM and funnel management tools to consistently forecast business opportunities, manage customer interactions, develop an opportunity pipeline, and make informed business decisions. Ensure accurate record-keeping and communication with customers through the CRM system. * Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, focusing on collaborative partnerships that enhance the customer experience. Engage with key opinion leaders (KOLs) to facilitate product adoption and advocacy. * Collaborative Territory Planning: Work with commercial teams to develop territory plans that identify, nurture, and close product and instrumentation opportunities to meet or exceed sales targets. * Technical Knowledge Acquisition: Rapidly acquire technical knowledge of MilliporeSigma innovations and integrate them into workflows. Drive awareness of new product introductions (NPI) through technical seminars, demonstrations, and other customer-facing activities. * Conference and Networking Participation: Represent our team at relevant conferences and tradeshows, utilizing speaking engagements and networking opportunities to promote products and strengthen customer relationships. * Product Differentiation and Positioning: Enhance product and service differentiation through compelling narratives based on scientific evidence, technical proficiency, and competitive analysis. * Customer Advocacy: Act as an internal advocate for customers by providing insights and feedback to the Commercial Organization, Commercial Marketing, and other stakeholders regarding customer needs, competitive intelligence, and market trends. Who You Are Minimum Qualifications: * Resides in the Boston-metro area (no relocation packages) and extensive familiarity with existing academic, corporate, pharmaceutical, biotech, and/or government accounts. Ability to work in the field 75% and overnight travel up to 50%. * Master's degree in a Life Science field with 3+ years' relevant experience as an Application Scientist, Technical Support or Technical Sales or bachelor's degree with 8+ years' relevant experience * A proactive learner with a passion for science and technology, displaying curiosity and a commitment to continuous improvement. * Demonstrated ability to present technical, customer-facing seminars on scientific research and product applications. * Experience/background in cell culture (preferably 3D cell culture/organoids/spheroids), and immunoassays (MILLIPLEX/Luminex, ELISAs); ability to analyze and troubleshoot assay data, preferred. * Ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems through innovation and collaboration. * Demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed organization, driving teamwork to achieve results. * Excellent time management, problem-solving, and analytical skills. * Proficient in Microsoft Office in a business environment * Valid Driver's License Preferred Qualifications: * PhD in biological sciences, or similar field, with three (3) or more years of work experience * 3+ years of prior sales experience; preferably in life science reagents, consumables, and/or instrumentation * Experience in assay development and troubleshooting * Experience and proficiency with CRM systems (i.e. Salesforce) and data analytics software (i.e. Tableau) Pay Range for this position: $119,100 - $178,700 The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
