QA Lab Technician Job Description Join our team as a QA Lab Technician, where you will be responsible for processing incoming raw materials and samples in our QA Analytical lab. You will prepare samples and conduct testing such as GC, Density, viscosity, and pH on malt and food ingredients. Additionally, you will enter data into LIMS, SAGE, and other computer systems, perform minor statistical analysis, and generate reports. This role requires collaboration with the Technical Director and Lab Manager on all QA testing for raw materials and product release, along with managing special projects to support manufacturing. Ensure proper documentation and HACCP controls while maintaining the lab, stocking supplies, cleaning glassware, and overseeing lab operations. Responsibilities * Process incoming raw materials and samples in the QA Analytical lab. * Prepare samples and conduct GC, Density, viscosity, and pH testing on malt and food ingredients. * Enter data into LIMS, SAGE, and other computer systems. * Perform minor statistical analysis on data and generate reports. * Collaborate with Technical Director and Lab Manager on QA testing for raw materials and product release. * Support special projects and investigations to aid manufacturing. * Ensure proper documentation and HACCP controls are in place. * Maintain the lab, including stocking supplies, cleaning glassware, and overseeing lab operations. Essential Skills * Experience in titration, wet chemistry, and analytical chemistry. * Proficient in laboratory documentation and QA processes. * Comfortable with LIMS and other documentation systems. * A degree in a life science or related field. * At least 6 months of hands-on lab experience (academic or industry), including pipetting, pH testing, and reagent preparation. * Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications * One year of lab experience is a plus, but strong undergraduate lab experience is also highly valued. * Experience in the service industry, leadership roles, or structured programs (e.g., Eagle Scout) is advantageous and demonstrates strong time management and accountability. Work Environment This position operates within a fast-paced QA laboratory environment supporting a high-throughput operation. The lab utilizes GC and other analytical instrumentation and offers cross-functional exposure to the malting mill and pilot brewing facility. The team follows a structured training program, with new hires working closely with a dedicated trainer. The lab processes 60-80 samples per day, with higher volumes during the summer. Production runs 24/7, but the lab operates a single shift from Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Initial training may require a 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. schedule. The role offers a clear growth path, with progression every three years from Lab Technician to Scientist. Opportunities to transition into R&D roles are also available. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shakopee, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
