Position Type: Paraeducator/InstructionalDate Posted: 8/27/2025Location: Capital Administrative OfficeDate Available: as soon as possibleClosing Date: Until FilledDistrict: Capital School DistrictDescription: Paraprofessional - Virtual Therapy Support Terms of Employment: 10 month position (temporary if hired after contractual start of the school year) Reports To: Principal Salary: Current Paraprofessional Salary Schedule Minimum Qualifications: Delaware Paraprofessional Certification using one of the three options:High School Diploma and passing Paraprofessional Assessment Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher learning and accumulating at least 60 credits Obtain an Associates Degree or higher Position Overview The Paraprofessional - Virtual Therapy Support will assist students in accessing and participating in virtual therapy sessions.. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that students remain engaged, technology functions properly, and therapy goals can be addressed in alignment with the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). Key Responsibilities Facilitate student participation in virtual therapy sessions by setting up and monitoring technology (laptop, tablet, headset, camera, etc.). Provide supervision and support to students during therapy sessions to maintain focus, engagement, and safe behaviors. Assist with preparation of therapy materials (printing, organizing, or gathering items) as directed by the therapist. Record attendance and session participation, reporting progress or concerns to the therapist and supervising teacher. Support communication between therapists and teachers, regarding scheduling or student needs. Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to all district and legal guidelines (FERPA, IDEA). Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervising administrator or therapist. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred. Experience working with children in educational or therapeutic settings preferred Basic technology skills, including comfort with video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, etc.). Ability to follow directions and carry out instructional or therapeutic support activities. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. Patience, flexibility, and commitment to supporting student success. Work Environment Based in school buildings with responsibilities in classrooms, therapy spaces, or other designated areas. Frequent use of technology to facilitate virtual therapy sessions. May require occasional lifting or physical assistance depending on student needs. Depending on location assignment, travel between sites may be required.
