DescriptionMohs Histotechnician Responsibilities & DutiesPrepare tissue specimens by processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining for examination by the Mohs surgeonOperate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, including microtomes and cryostatsEnsure accurate documentation and labeling of specimens and slidesPerform routine and specialized histological and immunohistochemical staining techniquesMaintain laboratory cleanliness and compliance with safety and regulatory standardsAssist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and protocolsCollaborate closely with the Mohs surgeon and clinical staff to ensure timely processing and examination of specimensMonitor and order laboratory supplies to ensure efficient operationTroubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to tissue processing and stainingEnsure quality control and assurance in all histological preparationsMohs Histotechnician Qualifications & SkillsPrevious experience working in a Mohs surgery laboratoryProficiency in operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment such as cryostats and microtomesStrong knowledge of laboratory safety and regulatory standardsExcellent organizational and time management skillsExperience with immunohistochemical staining techniquesProven ability to work both independently and as part of a teamStrong attention to detail and precision in laboratory tasksExperience in histology techniques including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and stainingManual dexterity and visual acuity for preparing and examining histological slidesAbility to work in a fast-paced medical laboratory environmentStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailBasic understanding of Mohs micrographic surgery proceduresEffective communication skills to work with the surgical teamCommitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standardsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology or related fieldCertification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)Medical Assistant ResponsibilitiesPathology Management, including specimen processing and management, communicating results, completing path log.
