If you would like to be a part of our future team, please apply now!Position Summary An EEG (electroencephalogram) technician is a healthcare professional who records and monitors electrical activity in the brain to help diagnose neurological conditions such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, and brain injuries. They prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, applying electrodes to the scalp, and ensuring proper equipment setup. EEG technicians operate specialized machines to capture brain wave data, monitor patients during testing, and identify irregular patterns for physician review. They maintain accurate records, ensure patient comfort and safety, and may assist neurologists in interpreting results while adhering to clinical standards and protocols.Core ResponsibilitiesPatient Preparation Explain EEG procedures to patients Prepare scalp and attach electrodes Ensure patient comfort and cooperationEquipment Operation Set up and calibrate EEG machines Monitor brain wave activity during tests Troubleshoot technical issuesData Collection & Monitoring Record electrical brain activity accurately Observe for abnormalities (e.g., seizures) Document patient behavior during testingDocumentation Maintain detailed patient records Label and store EEG results properly Prepare reports for neurologistsClinical Support Assist physicians during procedures Work closely with neurologists and healthcare teams Follow safety and infection control protocolsSpecialized EEG TrainingFormal training through: A Neurodiagnostic Technology (NDT) program Hospital-based EEG training programs Community college certificate programsHave knowledge in: Brain wave patterns EEG equipment use Patient preparation and safety Recognizing abnormal resultsCertification (Highly Recommended)Prefer certification from: ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and AccreditationThe most common credential is: Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.)Clinical ExperienceHands-on training is essential: Included in training programs Involves working with patients under supervisionOptional AdvancementPrefer EEG techs with specialty in: Long-term monitoring Epilepsy studies Intraoperative monitoringBenefits: Paid Sick Time - effective 90 days after employment Paid Vacation Time - effective 90 days after employment Health, vision & dental benefits - eligible at 30 days, following the 1st of the following month Short and long-term disability and basic life insurance - after 30 days of employment Insight Employees are required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 as a condition of employment, subject to accommodation for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
