Looking for a candidate who is a P1 or P2 student graduating in 2029/30. Position Summary:Under the supervision of a pharmacist, they will perform a wide variety of technical and clinical duties. A pharmacy intern is a student who attends pharmacy school and gains hands-on experience working with pharmacists performing delegated supervised clinical duties and as Pharmacy technicians. They receive training on how to do all aspects of Pharmacy practice. Duties commiserate with pharmacy school progressionPosition Requirements: Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Pharmacy Intern license in the State of ColoradoEducation: Active enrollment in an Accredited College of Pharmacy and maintenance of a satisfactory grade point average in the school of pharmacy.Experience: None; previous experience as an inpatient Pharmacy Technician preferredSkills & Abilities: Effective oral and written communication skills. Computer skills. Demonstrated skills commensurate with formal trainingEssential Functions: Analyzes each patient's drug therapy for appropriateness; recommends changes to the medical team as necessary; monitors adverse drug reactions and submits reports.Interprets and screens medication orders; contacts the physician for clarification when neededInputs medication orders into the pharmacy computer system; verifies medication orders entered by the Pharmacy Technicians.Provides drug information to physicians, nurses and other healthcare personnel.Counsels patients on the safe and appropriate use of drugs.Participate in research and Investigational Drug Studies as required.May performs drug-related in-service as appropriate for educational and hospital benefit.Prepares intravenous solutions with additives, unit dose or outpatient prescriptions for final verification by the pharmacistPrepares solutions and other extemporaneously compounded items for final verification by the pharmacistFills stock orders for departments within the hospital.Assists with the purchase, control, dispensing, preparation, delivery, documentation, reconciliation and destruction of controlled substances within the hospital.Delivers medications to patient care areas within the hospital.Helps maintain adequate stock levels in the pharmacy.Assists with monthly pharmacy and nursing unit inspections.Returns outdated, recalled or unusable pharmaceutical products to the appropriate location for credit or disposal; maintains related records.Files medication orders, maintains records and reports and performs other clerical duties as assigned.Participates in quality improvement activities, assists in maintaining compliance with JCAHO accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards.Attends and updates mandatory training.Performs duties in a cost-effective manner, striving to avoid wasting hospital resources without jeopardizing quality care and service.Supports and upholds established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control and codes and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.Maintains positive behaviors, approaches, attitude and commitment to interpersonal service toward patients, visitors and or co-workers.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed.
