In this role, you will perform microbiome sample processing-including DNA/RNA extraction, sequencing library preparation (16S rRNA, shotgun metagenomics, metatranscriptomics), and inflammatory marker assays-while ensuring accuracy and high‑quality data output. You will also support core laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, inventory and supply management, freezer organization, and compliance with biosafety and EHS standards. Working closely with investigators and core users, you will help deliver standardized microbiome datasets that drive multiple research projects and external collaborations. This position plays a vital role in sustaining Microbiome Core operations and advancing UCLA's research mission in gastroenterology and microbiome science. Annual range: $71,845.41-$115,537.00 Job Qualifications Press space or enter keys to toggle section visibility Required: * 1+ years experience performing high volume molecular biology work (e.g. DNA/RNA extraction, sequencing library preparation) using 96 well plate formats. * 1+ years prior experience working in BSL2 laboratory environments. * Ability to use a personal computer and basic computer applications. * Ability to organize and present results in an appropriate format. * Ability to maintain complete and accurate records. * Ability to work independently after training. * Ability to read and understand scientific protocols. * Ability to work in an aseptic environment. * Ability to pay close attention to detail. * Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. * Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work schedule. * Ability to reliably pipette hundreds of samples with no errors.
