The is designed to support the growth and success of children cognitively, physically, emotionally and socially. Using developmentally appropriate materials, curriculum and activities in a play based environment, your child will be supported in learning social skills, Kindergarten readiness skills and engage in physical activities. The Preschool Aide will assist in the supervision of children ages 2-5 years of age, plan and implement activities for participants. For more on Y Employee Perks, click on this link: Schedule:Location: Dan McKinney Family YMCA Preschool runs Monday-Friday, year-round Work schedule is Monday through Friday (2:30pm - 5:30pm)Part Time (No more than 29 hours/week)Specific age enrolled : 2-5 years old Supervise participants, ensuring their guidance and safetyAssist the Preschool Teacher in the supervision and implementation of the daily program at YMCA Preschool in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCACommunicate in a positive manner to all participants, parents, community members and co-workersMaintain a professional demeanor at all times to ensure the YMCA image and mission statement are upheldInteract with participants in a positive manner while being consistent, fair and treating them with dignity and respect according to the YMCA Code of ConductAssist in the general housekeeping of the program space and food preparationFollow emergency procedures appropriately to ensure the safety of the participants and staffVisual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situationPhysical ability to lead and interact in active sports and games with children, monitor behavior requiring separation and interact in curriculum activities and housekeeping responsibilitiesMust be able to relate well to both children and adults. Ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuityMust be highly dependable and flexible with daily scheduleMust have a warm and friendly personality, while having sensitivity to meet the needs of a diverse populationWillingness to fulfill the job responsibilities in accordance with the program and branch goalsMust be at least 18 years of age or a high school graduate3 units in Early Child Development required within 120 days of employmentExperience working or volunteering in a child care setting highly desirableCriminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work and signing a statement regarding criminal convictionsCompletion of Child Abuse Prevention on line training prior to working with participantsHealth and Safety training within 60 days of hireA physical and TB test within 7 days of hireMust provide proof of current measles (MMR), pertussis (TDap), and influenza immunizations within 7 days of hirePediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire, unless specified otherwise on contract, and must be from one of the following:American Red CrossAmerican Heart AssociationAmerican Safety & Health Institute YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
