Job Address:707 E Jenkins StreetColumbus, OH 43207Job Summary:The Intervention Specialist at Kids Thrive Pediatric Mental Health plays a vital role in providing educational instruction and behavioral support to children in a therapeutic setting. The Intervention Specialist collaborates with mental health professionals and supports staff to create a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment tailored to the needs of children facing behavioral and emotional challenges. Education:Active Ohio intervention specialist license strongly preferredCompletion of resident educator program strongly preferredAlternative license with strongly relevant experiences consideredExperience:At least two years of classroom teaching experience with K-6 behavioral health populationsExperience maintaining compliant special education documentation, including administering assessments, reporting progress and providing input for IEPS, ETRs and any other requirementsExperience implementing positive behavior supports, trauma-informed care and related supports and interventionsPosition Requirements:Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with individualized education goals and therapeutic interventions.Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects while integrating social-emotional learning strategies.Adapt instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of students with behavioral and emotional challenges.Collaborate with therapists, behavioral specialists, and other support staff to reinforce therapeutic strategies in the classroom.Utilize positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to manage classroom behavior effectively.Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and educational achievements.Communicate regularly with families, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistency in interventions and academic support.Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.Participate in professional development training related to trauma-informed care, behavioral health, and special education strategies.Performs other duties as assignedAdditional Responsibilities:Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Teamwork, flexibility needed to fulfill job responsibilities, adapting to changes in work environment and accepting supervisory feedback.Adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines affecting the work environment, as well as maintenance of required competencies and communications skills.
