Austin Achieve Public Schools is an open-enrollment public charter school with the mission to prepare the youth of East Austin to attend and excel at the nation's top colleges and universities. The Child Nutrition Department strives to improve and maintain the health and nutritional status of our scholars, promote the development of good eating habits, and integrate nutritious food service while we are compliant with the norms of the USDA. This job is contingent upon submitting fingerprinting and providing authorized work status. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Arrive on time according to scheduled assigned * Attend professional development training with Child Nutrition Staff before the beginning of the school year and throughout the year. * Attend staff meetings and school events. * Verify all equipment is available * Remove cafeteria trash/compost and recyclable waste after each service * Keep cafeteria, and entrance area clean * Maintain meal service equipment clean * Check dumpster area is closed and clean * Help as needed in the kitchen * Support all efforts to recycle and compost * Be on call for emergency cleanings and projects * Perform other duties as directed by supervisors. QUALIFICATIONS: * RELIABILITY: On-time to work every day * ENERGY: Motivated to work hard during shift * RESPONSIBILITY: Ability to work independently, but also demonstrate flexibility * TEAM PLAYER: Maintain a positive attitude and listen respectfully to others * EXPERIENCE: Previous success working in the School Nutrition program experience preferred * Have six hours in Child Nutrition training or have the ability to complete six hours within the first year of work. * Have food handlers certification or be able to complete certification within the first week of work * Ability to deal with the physical aspects of the job including hours on your feet, maneuvering all child nutrition equipment and lifting heavy objects Statement of Non-Discrimination: In keeping with our beliefs and goals, no employee or applicant will face discrimination/harassment based on race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, age, gender, marital/domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, or veteran status.
