Exercises complex skills, judgment, and knowledge of the principles and methods of CT and Radiologic Technology. Performs diagnostic radiographic studies as requested. Operates portable diagnostic radiographic equipment as needed. Performs Infection Control according to Universal Precautions. Must be able to provide care to infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Operates radiographic, CT, image processors, and other related equipment accurately across different modalities. Evaluates images for quality and demonstrates accuracy of positioning based on procedure guidelines. Provides clear and concise instructions during procedures to calm and relieve stress for patients. Maintains competency in two specific modalities. Ensures proper radiation protection is used for self, patients, and other personnel by employing appropriate techniques. Demonstrates flexibility in assuming emergency calls on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Demonstrates competency in RIS and PACS, utilizing systems to enter and edit patient exams and charges. Records appropriate data, scans documents, and makes notes. Responsible for performing radiographic and CT studies with and without IV contrast enhancement for various procedures. Follows NYSDOH Part 16 guidelines. Performs required quality control activities. Occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks may involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissues.
