General Job Information JOB SUMMARY This position is located in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to be used agency wide. The mission of the DMV is to promote the safe operation of motor vehicles and public safety while providing outstanding customer service. The incumbent serves as the primary point of contact between front-line employees and management, with primary responsibility for ensuring the integrity, effectiveness and efficiency of the quality of customer service provided by DMV employees. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for planning, evaluating and supervising activities and staff of a customer service facility within the Driver Services Administration, the Vehicle Services Administration or the Adjudication Services Administration. The incumbent exercises seasoned judgment in establishing the parameters of approved projects for the service center. Assists the manager in planning and developing goals and objectives for implementation of long and short-range improvements in services provided by the executive management. Participate in the review of rules, regulations and laws affecting facility operations and makes recommendations for revisions Initiates procedures and techniques to improve customer services. Plans, directs, assigns, and reviews the work to be accomplished by subordinate staff; sets goals; and establishes deadlines; sets priorities; and solves complex problems associated with work operations. Evaluates subordinate employees' work performance. Approves and disapproves leave requests. Has authority to recommend job selections, promotions, personnel status changes, incentives, adverse/disciplinary actions and separation actions for the facility. Coordinates work with the manager on all phases of projects and special assignments. Plans, schedules, and coordinates work efforts with staff to promote team concept. Provides guidance to subordinate staff in the interpretation of policy and procedures, and for determining the approach to be taken and the methodology to be used in performing their work. Resolves technical problems encountered by subordinates. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, the incumbent must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression. LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION None WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT The work is performed in a normal office setting. The work is primarily sedentary, however, there may be walking or standing. Promotion Potential None OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS Tour of Duty: Rotating Shifts, Tuesday - Saturday Location: Various locations throughout the Department of Motor Vehicles Collective Bargaining Unit: This position is not covered under a collective bargaining unit. Duration of Appointment: Management Supervisory Service (MSS): At-will employment applies to the MSS. All positions and appointments in the MSS serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and may be terminated at any time with or without cause. Position Designation: The position is designated as Security Sensitive and therefore the incumbent of the position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of the DC personnel regulations, Suitability.
