Job Description

When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you're making a difference in people's lives.A Research Assistant (RA) position is available in Dr. David K. Simon's lab at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School with a target start date of July 1st (with some flexibility). The RA will work closely with others in the lab on translational research relating to neuroprotection in Parkinson's disease. The RA will help with tissue culture experiments, and also will help with handling the mouse colonies, DNA and RNA isolation, genotyping, cloning, sequencing, cryostat sectioning of brain tissue, immunohistochemistry, quantitative PCR, western blots, and other methods. Some laboratory experience with tissue culture and with mouse handling is preferred, but we also will teach the techniques as needed. The RA should be willing to work for 1 year or more (2 or more preferred). Job Summary: Under supervision of the principal investigator, conducts a variety of routine experiments using molecular, cell biology and/or biochemistry techniques. Records test results, calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data using basic statistics.
